Received my copy today in perfect condition, heaps of bubble wrap and in a sturdy box. Wish Amazon paid this level of attention. Took only 10 days form Korea. Happy camper.

Received my Blu-ray today! This is one of the most beautiful BDs in my collection. It comes housed in a sturdy slipcase with stunning colors and a packet of photo reproductions from the film. And the A/V quality is also near perfect. We need more Kim Ki-Duk on Blu-ray especially with this attention to detail. It's obvious that the company truly cares about the whole product!

For those who already owned this edition, I have a question to ask, does the clear Nova case have the same "clip" in the middle of the spine (inside) like Ditto?
I mean, that's the only downside of the case. It seems like it's use for 3-disc holder, but it has been removed. Because it makes the thick booklet inside a little bit damaged on the corners when I close the case. ![]() |

I'm considering getting this, but these Korean releases of films that I'm into all seem geared toward pretty packaging for a premium price, while the video quality resembles an upscaled DVD rather than being film like. They all share and suffer the same characteristics, brightness boosted which fades and alters colors, heavy sharpening, edge enhancement and noise removal - A Tale of Two Sisters being an example. The color schemes look so off as an end result. I have to wonder if the Isle is more of the same. Better than the DVD? Surely, as the DVD was so poorly done, but these Blu Rays seem to replicate a comparative subpar picture as the DVDs did in their day. Am I wrong, and the Isle is the exception of the bunch? I hope so, but I doubt it..

That's just sad, but expected. Have to wonder if this film will ever get a proper release. Thanks for saving me the $45.

On the whole, I would put them up against any and all comers in the Blu-ray world, in regards to PQ & SQ, and they're the best in packaging. The Isle looks remarkable on Blu-ray. They knocked it out of the park with this release. |

These releases are for collectors of packaging, nothing wrong with that, but it's not my thing. I'm only interested in the films being encoded at the highest rate, with little in the way of digital enhancement, to retain the films' intended look. The Korean releases simply go out of their way to make them look "sharp" and the result is something that sits between a Blu Ray and DVD - an overly digitized product at a high resolution.

I apologize for begging to differ with you in my first post. In retrospect, not a very positive sounding comment on my part. I don't find edge enhancement and contrast boosting to be that significant in the Korean releases that I own. I won't deny that some enhancement is used on some releases, but most Korean Blu-rays that I've seen look fantastic overall. The DVD release of The Isle is terrible. I feel that the Korean Blu-ray is one of the best upgrades that I've seen to date on the format. If you enjoy the film itself, like I also do, it's worthy of spending the money for the import. I understand that the actual quality of the encode is most important to you, but I think the packaging along with the quality of the presentation make the Korean release the best version of The Isle available, so far. ![]() |
