I like both Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien, but yeah, they are completely different types of comedians.
Jay Leno appeals more to mainstream middle America. And Conan O' Brien has more of an underground hipster appeal. While I like them both, I do prefer Conan's absurdist humor, to Leno's corniness. I personally think they should have left well enough alone. Jay was perfect for the Tonight Show, and Conan was perfect for Late Night. I'll reserve judgment until I see the first run of shows, but I will be disappointed if Conan really waters down his style, at 11:30. We shall see. Also, I am not liking Late Night With Jimmy Fallon at all. I've really TRIED to like it, but I just can't. Jimmy was amusing in his SNL sketches, while in character. But when he appears as himself, he is not funny. Last edited by rlj1010; 05-30-2009 at 02:40 AM. |
