Received my copy today and have just finished viewing the 4K disc. I'm pleased with the A/V quality.

I had a quick look at the second Blu-ray disc's bonus features - specifically, the 1981 TV Cut. I've noticed a strange audio glitch: The elder Doctor's opening dialogue (during the very first extended television scene) can be heard - repeated twice, or thrice - very faintly, just before his actual scene and dialogue starts - during the added '1964' title card. Weird.
Also thought the fade-to-black ad breaks during the TV Cut were a bit too long in some instances.

Also checked out the Extended Cut, it's easy to see the quality drop between the additional scenes and the surrounding material. I'll be hanging onto my 1998 R1 DVD set (with the hologram cover) for a more seamless - albeit - lower resolution viewing experience.

Sounds like print-through. The audio signal on the magnetic film or tape that the soundtrack was sourced from has copied itself onto the adjacent piece of film/tape while it's been sitting around wound on the reel. Cheap VHS tapes used to be bad for that.

The tops of the boxes have the logos and look much better.

But they've had a problem with that going back years. The only ones I have from them with almost matching spines are the Tales From the Crypt movies and Jeepers Creepers 1/2, but they are still a little off. They must not check these things.

I can believe it and I'll take your word for it but the street where they are joined by Annie always looked more like Orange Grove than the earlier streets and the one later when they split up, and Laurie sees the Shape.

Y'all putting your movies in clear cases and bags aren't doing it well enough.

Mine are in bullet proof coffins deep within the earth. I'll never see them again but at least my investment is protected and the roaches won't touch.

What player did you use?

Panasonic UB420P.

Any 4K player will do. Just set it to 1080p and use a different picture preset in your TV to adjust for brightness and contrast.

The Pannysonics have a better SDR conversion than most, though.

Thanks guys. A panasonic it will be then. The Mad Max 2 UHD looks too good to miss out on. I need those colors in my life.

Any idea when you'll be upgrading to a 4K set? Should be some good prices soon.

Geoff D, did you ever end up receiving this one? Curious as to your impressions about this edition compared to the prior one?

There are no issues. One traffic sign is too green and the compression isn't perfect. But other than that it's easily the best release of Halloween.

Where did you get the SC3 Steelbook protectors?

Will these steelbook protectors in the link below fit the Shout 4K Halloween slip cases? I'm not sure which ones will fit.
