This is actually a serious question, since I've just watched Arrow's UHD of The Hills Have Eyes - which looked very good in 4K - and DVDBeavers screenshots - from whatever method he used to get them - shows some of the differences between the BD and the UHD pretty well.
These days I don't often take screenshots at all. Screenshots almost always fail to do justice to the moving image, especially when noticeable grain is a factor and when I realize most people are watching my videos on their phones, through a heavily compressed stream. I've pretty much walked away from that, and it's not how I choose to focus my reviews. I do sometimes include photo support in my video and written reviews, but they're not meant to accurately convey a 4K image.

But for the record, yes, in the past, most of my screenshots are done with a smartphone because none of the four computers in the house have a 4K drive. I do the best with the technology that I have.

Not a smartphone, for what that's worth. But yes, a camera nonetheless, supported with comments that make it quite clear that the images are not MEANT to be a 100% accurate representation. Hence all the other words and stuff.

But even when taking caps from ripped discs there are right ways and wrong ways, and Tooze has long been putting BD caps on there in the wrong colour space and his SDR conversions for HDR caps are stunningly awful. Then there's that other YouTube goober that, to this day, is still forcing the wrong colour space on his UHD comparisons.

Beaver seems to VLC for BD screenshots (dunno about UHD). Can tell by the nearest neighbor chroma interpolation artifacts and incorrect color space.

Like the colors a lot on this new release, better detail too! Things seem a bit darker on the 4K remastered Blu ray in some shots, but HDR will make the 4K look great I would imagine. Thanks Dailyan for the screenshots!

The Shout disc looks like it has no contrast in comparison. It's really nice!

Agreed, it looks very flat and dull in comparison.

I too saw this in theaters in 1978! I was 10 and thanks to dad, a huge sci-fi and horror fan, at a young age. I do remember the sound effects and creepy music, being very effective in a huge cinema.

The pods hatching in the garden sound mix was disturbing. The final shriek in the movie, had the audience going bonkers. Me included!

Damn! My eyes sees the shout being the better one. It looks more natural and not over saturated.

Thanks for sharing these.

First off, screenshots of HDR content are not accurate.

Secondly, detail-wise the 4k makes Shout's look anything but natural.

Thanks for the info! Lovely total bitrate of 100.62 MBPS.

Question as I am not good with audio stuff, at 1991 kbps on the 2.0 English audio (in comparison to 3355 kbps for the 5.1), can one a assume it's a downmix? It seems like it'd have a higher bit rate to me if it were it's own track/lossless, but once again I am not clear on a lot of the audio info.

That's normal for a stereo track. Criterion's Silence of the Lambs 2.0 weighs in at 1722kbps while Kino's downmix is 2018kbps. Generally 5.1 tracks are beefier in size.

That's understandable, I feel the same. Unfortunately the only way to confirm anything is by listening. Hopefully we'll know it's fine soon.

Just finished watching the 4K. Loved how it looked.

I watched with the 2.0 Stereo in Dolby Surround mode

However as many times as I’ve seen the film I really don’t know what to listen for to tell if it is a 5.1 downmix. Really hoping it is the original 2.0 Stereo, I’ll leave it to those who know it well to decipher if the audio is correct.

I still believe it to be one of the greatest remakes of all time.

I was regarding the saturation. Sutherlands face on the 2nd pic looks like a lobster tan.

However, capaholics comparisons shows it differently. These definitely show that Kino is the winner.
Thanks for the heads up
