Blove you would probably see a decent difference if you upgraded your center to the RC-62. That's the recommended center for the RF-82s. Are you using the RB-81s and RB-51s as your surrounds?

Yeah I kind of feel like I should have gotten the 62....but I'm not complaining at all. I assume that audessey and bass management adjust for it. Technically I should have a RC35 to match my RF35s....at the end of the day we are all spoiled, why complain.

Not sure if it's fine to ask questions like this here but I'm trying to put together a Klipsch system and having trouble finding a place that sells the RC-62 in Ottawa, Ontario in Canada. Any tips? I know that Future Shop used to have them and Audiotronic as well but I don't see them on their websites any more - only the RC-52.

Hey Jimbo,
A quick run on the Klipsch site (type in Ottawa, ON) will give you a list of shops to check out. Try actual audio/video stores, not best buys and future shops (if the ones in your area do not carry the 62)

Good luck! there look to be plenty of options around you

Cool I was born in Ottawa, lived there most of my life in Nepean. Living in Arizona now but I still miss certain times of the year there. Good luck on your search.

if im not mistaken, Audiogon.com has some sort of counterpart in canada, that also sells quality components, from 'qualified' owners, that might be of assistance. i cant remember the website, but im sure someone can chip on in from the other side..

I thought about upgrading to the 62, but I'm looking for a new stand before I upgrade. I need something height wise to handle the 62 or 64.

Hi there....I'm new to this thread. I just picked up a pair of Klipsch RB-81's (factory sealed with warranty) from a home theater install company for $426.00/pair......Can't believe I just scored these! I also got a B&W CC6 center speaker the other day. I'm wondering though.....do you guys think it will sound O.K. with the new RB-81's? .......oh, I almost forgot

I don't think it will sound great because of mismatch in timber and mixing horns with a dome. You'll have to try it though, it might work for you.

Both are great speaker, but I'm afraid their sonic characteristics are very different - and you will notice it. You would be better off with getting some 601's from Audiogon http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls....ck-400-shipped or get a Klipsch center channel

Thats a good price, he could sell the 81's and get back his original 426.00 and pick those up, that would be ideal.

Mr.hidef, I agree with the previous posters here. It would be ideal to go with all Klipsch or all B&W. I think you'd eventually get tired of the sonic mismatch going on with the 2 brands mixed together.

Yep, quite annoying. I ditched my Polk center in favor of my Monitor Audio towers until I can afford the MA center. It sounds better without a center, than with a msmatched one.

Thank you for your replies everyone.....I would ultimately like a RC-65, with the B&W you need to really drive it kind of loud to get it to sound good.....

What you are actually hearing is the sensitivity edge of the Klipsch. Generally if you put two different speakers side by side - the one that plays louder is assumed the best speaker. What you should do is get a SPL meter and adjust the volumes to where they are both at the same SPL (that means the B&W's will actually be turned up louder than the Klipsch). Compare the speakers this way - if you find out that the B&W's have more resolution, soundstage, imaging, and detail at the same given SPL, that means the edge goes to the B&W's - but if the Klipsch are better in those areas - then the Klipsch win. After that, look at your amplification - can your present amp handle the required leves for the B&W's if not then the Klipsch would possibly be the better value for you. If you plan to upgrade your amplification then the B&W's are back in play - ultimately its up to you

in regards to prerich's previous posting, the B&W's are rated at a lower sensitivity level compared to klipsch. it doesnt necessarily mean that its 'better' it just takes less power to amplify rather than the lower rated speakers.

this is one reason why klipsch always are noted to be 'harsh' compared to other speakers, because it drives easier than a regular speaker, and at a certain volume level, it wouldnt be fair to judge it side by side another speaker due to such.

loud doesnt necessitate better in such respect.

That's why I gave the same thing to both speakers If hi-def likes the detail of the Klipsch over the B&W's he should choose those It's users preference - that should be my new motto As you know I am a Klipsch owner as well - and I still have them (no plans to give them up - unless I get some Cornwalls )
