In Blade Runner's case, the UHD is just of the Final Cut, which is, in WBs eyes, a 2007 release, not a 1982 release. IIRC the mix on the disc is true to the 2007 release of the Final Cut, but I could be misremembering that.

That's mostly true (and in the past I would have said completely true) but here I am with my blu-ray set of The New Scooby-Doo Movies with an entire episode having out of sync audio. Corrected disc promised but never fulfilled, fixed on digital only...

There's also the prolonged crackling in the second half of the Samurai Jack episode XXX and the pixelation in episode XXXVII.



Never fixed, as far as I know.

Not sure if its been mentioned, but Best Buy has in their system a "Do Not Sell" when the Anthology 4K set is rang up at the register. Sounds like they got word of the defective audio and were told to sell anymore copies (however they still had a few on the shelf) at my local store. Perhaps corrected versions are in the works. Since I got a great price on it, I will keep mine and do the replacement disc thing when that gets announced.

The Atmos mix is its own beast, unfortunately. Would've been nice of WB to at least include the 2007 mix (which was obviously still a remix, but a relatively faithful one), but Warners gonna Warner.

No no no no no. And no. The Atmos is another new mix, and while the 2007 remix applied its changes with taste and respect the Atmos does the literal opposite and junks that tasteful approach, changing many more sound effects for new ones (2007 was more about embellishment than replacement, though it had some of that too) and radically altering the sound field to push dat Atmos to the fore. It’s like The Terminator for me, I genuinely cannot watch the movie with this remix in place.

Just a heads-up in case word hasn't gotten around yet: Per retailers, it looks like WBHE is officially recalling MAD MAX 2 & THUNDERDOME in 4K. Presumably, they confirmed the audio error, are moving to correct it, and will have a replacement program at some point.

I'm quite behind with all this. It's just those two out of the four that need replacements right?

The Atmos on Blade Runner is especially frustrating, as there was truly no reason for all the new new SFX. The 2007 mix was recent enough that surely there were DME stems available to use for upmixing.
