Default Is there anyone else who...?

would not buy HD DUD even if by some miracle it won the war? As bad as it sounds, I don't think I would. I would wait for 1600p 3D or whatever is next before I buy an inferior disc

I totally agree that BD is the superior format but if the scenario you've suggested comes to pass, I think people would just buy the format left standing.

Can you imagine if Westinghouse and Tesla lost to Edison? We'd all be using DC and not AC, or if Armstrong lost his tussle with Sarnoff and RCA, we'd only have AM and no FM.

We all use VHS and it was the inferior tape, technically speaking, but it won the war.

If you asked the average consumer, they probably didn't know that Betamax was technically superior to VHS, most people would probably assume that the winning format was the better one.

If HD DUD wins, I guess it will be the only way in the world that I would buy an HD DVD player. I'm to much of a movie buff not to continue with what ever format is left and buy movies.

If HD-DVD won and all the studios backed them, then yes I would switch, but thankfully, I don't ever see that happening.

I could never go back to standard DVD. I've invested to much money on my equipment not to enjoy full HD.

Agreed. SD DVDs look ok upconverted but it still isn't HD. I can't go back now!

P.S., It would be a huge miracle if HD DUD won. God himself would have to intervene.

i'd hold out for a while. I think if hd dvd won something better would easily take it out because blu ray make hd dvd obsolete right now. it would be to easy for some other format to demolish hd dvd should it win. which isn't the correct term. I think hd dvd would never win. but the consumers would definetly lose.

IF and it is a big if, HD-DVD won, I would adopt the format as I love HD content. As some have stated, I wouldn't want to go back to SD DVD. I love the quality and content of the HDM.

No. Would not buy HD-DVD if it won. I would just save my money (I should do this anyways) or wait for the "new" format.

It is a habit of mine to not take 2 steps forward (DVD -> Blu-ray) then take 1 step back (Blu-ray -> HDDVD)

M'eh, I went to Windows 95 kicking and screaming, but I never regretted it. But after that move by Para-flout, I'd pray for the promise of anything else that would bury those ugly brown cases forever before going to HD-DVD.

Oh look, that bright glimmer in the distance. A new format to save humanity from HD-DVD and it's ugly cousin - DVD. OH look, it's beauitful... It's blue... it's, it's... YES! It's still blu-ray.

by then HD-DVD players should be at $99.99 for a 1080p capable player. i dont mind picking one up by that time if blu-ray dies.
