Amazon shipping question for preorders - Blu-ray Forum

I'm not sure where to put this because there's not really any section that this makes sense in...so here it is.

I'm going out of state on a 7 hour car ride on June 16, the same day that Lost comes out. I'm looking to get this for the ride, but I have to leave early in the morning. I know Amazon almost always gets preorders for Tuesday releases on the same day for one and two day shipping, but has anyone ever gotten their order on the Monday? I feel like I've read people saying they have, but I'm not sure...

I don't know what to do. If I go for the one day shipping and it comes later on Tuesday, I'm screwed because it's gonna be sitting outside for days (unless I tell them otherwise), and I just wasted like $15 for shipping.

What do you guys think? Has anyone ever gotten their stuff on the Monday? Edit- with the one day shipping.

I've never gotten anything on Monday, and I've ordered probably 60 movies from Amazon.

Yes, the new releases with one day shipping arrive at most places on Tuesday. Some people have received items on Monday, but not the majority. I would not take the chance.

Why not just go to Walmart of BB and pick it up your self?

Counting on an AM delivery can disappoint you.

I have preordered from Amazon many times and I have only gotten something on Monday once. I wouldn't count on getting it early.

I've seen a lot of people on here talk about getting their Amazon.com pre-orders so much earlier than their release date, but I've never had that happen for me. The earliest I've received a pre-order is 2 days after it's release, but they do mostly ship on Monday. I guess if I wanted to pay extra, I could get them Nexy Day Air, but I don't want a movie that bad to pay extra. I just pre-order catalog titles now as I have a hard time finding them locally on their release date.

Unless the OP lives very to close to where they're being shipped from or has a Mr. Brundle teleporter, they will arrive Tuesday at the earliest.

The first reason is because it's cheaper on Amazon and the second reason is because I have credit from a couple returns and trade-ins I've made on my account.

Well...usually my stuff ships from Delaware...and I'm like an hour away from the shipping center...

What time does your UPS usually come? I still wouldn't bet on it arriving on Tuesday even with one-day shipping. They definitely won't guarantee it will arrive that Tuesday either.

UPS comes at around 4:45 PM everyday there's a package for someone in my neighborhood. I've received pre-orders from UPS every time I've pre-ordered with two-day on that Tuesday. It usually ships out from the Delaware location early in the morning (or that's when I get the email at least)...but that's beside the point.

I've ordered one-day one time...but that wasn't for a preorder. It came through DHL at like 9:00 AM.

I guess it depends on what shipping company they use. Amazon uses UPS for everything for me (have Prime). Since DHL is no longer in business it's hard to say when you would get it.

It usually depends on where it is being shipped from. Not all my stuff comes from Delaware. I just placed an order on Saturday with one-item being a pre-order. The Pre-order is coming from Arizona. The other items are split between Harrisburg, PA and Kansas.

I will be getting the Harrisburg and Pre-order today, but the Kansas shipment will be coming tomorrow. I am also a Prime user and usually get my packages between 4-5pm from UPS.

I Don't think that I have ever received anything on a Monday unless I had ordered it on the Thursday prior. Possibly if I ordered it on a Friday and it was coming from a close shipment center, but this is atypical.

I think this problem has been resolved as I am now leaving later in the week. I am fairly certain that I will get it on Tuesday though...I've done many pre-orders that have arrived the day of. But it doesn't really matter, as long as I get it by Thursday.
