So has anyone else noticed fluctuating brightness issues in DV? Adjusting settings I can get it to be a little less obvious, but still noticeable. Particularly in the scene at the beginning when Elizabeth is watching Geoffrey throw the plant in the garbage truck. When the shots cut back and forth to him and Elizabeth watching from the window, the brightness shifts. It’s driving me nuts.

Watching on a Sony A80J and a Panny UB820.

Kino Lorber needs to get their 4K disc manufacturing together. It's a shame because the 4K transfer looks good, but the encode and KL-related anomalies prevent the disc watching experience from being that enjoyable.

About the review… Brooke Adams does NOT play "a housewife". She’s a lab worker and Sutherland’s colleague.

Another point about the review: it’s the 1956 original Invasion of the Body Snatchers that’s in the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry, not this one (although one could argue that it also deserves to be).

Hmm! But would the average moviegoer notice? Is it really an issue in that case hm? This film is not perfect anyway like Lord of The Rings. You should look for other things to do except for complaining. Physical media is going to die even faster and it's already dead. Sad! ;^)

The youtube reviewers haven't mentioned it, so clearly it's another fake lie perpetuated by the anal-retentive blu-ray forum members who want to end physical media through the demand for replacements for already perfect discs!

I'm 55 saw this film in the theater on first release. I spent time as a film projectionist in the 80's. I prefer my bluray and 4k discs filmic with no egregious digital tinkering. I have the original MGM bluray. I now own this new Kino 4K. I watched on my 50" Toshiba with DV. I watched projected through my Epson 3800 onto a Da-Lite 92" with HDR enabled
My eyes could be bad and i don't know nothing about screencaps blown up to whatever percentage, but to my old eyes both DV and HDR versions appeared good to great.
I'm not discounting any one's opinions or looking to pick fights. But I am happy with the 4K disc.

I would like to see the disc irl before I judge it fully.

The problem with bluray is not mainly the resolution but rather the compression in my opinion. Bluray can look really nice but it is clearly more "digital" and not looking like film according to me. I and a couple of friends did just watch Road warrior 4K UHD on my 130" screen and the image quality (=close to 35mm) was great. No bluray with upscaling can come close.

Steven, thanks for your thoughts. Just curious, is the original United Artists Transamerica Company logo on the 4K disc?

That's my dilemma. I paid with a gift card (whenever I preorder something early, I buy a gift card to pay so that the funds are taken immediately - since they don't have Paypal as an option) and now that it appears they aren't going to have it in stock anytime soon, I'm screwed. I could cancel, but those funds would just go back on the gift card instead of my bank account, thus I can't use that money to buy it elsewhere.

Kino's 4K UHD's are terrific. From The Silence of the Lambs to Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
