I don't think it was that different or that bad. Here's the sample I provided. Also, if there's a sample somewhere else please link it since no one else has been able to share samples that I know of.

For whatever reasons audio that's pitched down seems to be far less distracting to most people than audio that's pitched up, but it's definitely there and it was fixed for the French and Sony UHDs. Highly doubt that the UHD in this will be anything other than the existing Lionsgate one though.

I hear what sounds like to me a very slightly less slower playback on the Ultra HD version, but for what ever reasons...it could have been the way I held the phone in a very slightly different spot, possibly the differences between the two players etc. It's not scientific and unless someone can post a link to where there's a better comparison I would say for the most part it sounds almost the same.

After a much closer listen, the difference does seem bothersome and noticeable.

There is a small chance it could get an R rating uncut today. But the chances of an NC-17 are still pretty good. Since it's about tone/atmospheric on top of explicit content that could achieve that rating, since practical effects are more visceral than CGI gore. And thus it still packs an "eww/yikes!" punch that CGI gore lacks, no matter how low budget the movie is.(and part 1 is not a comedy by any means. People that claim it is are kidding themselves. It was always intended as a grisly unrelenting horror experience.)

part 2 would easily pass with an R rating with no problems today. That's for sure. Part 1 we won't know unless it's resubmitted and why bother at this point? It's basically a mainstream film now with how easily available it is at places that normally wouldn't stock unrated movies.



ps-does anyone have the mono audio(from VHS or laserdisc) for parts 1 and 2 they'd be willing to send me? I'd love to enjoy both movies in mono again.

A plant rape scene practical effect or CGI is still a plant rape scene if submitted today it would get the NC-17 rating.

Oh, I forgot to mention, ALL, but ABSOLUTELY ALL the Blu-Rays / 4K editions of The Evil Dead (1981) around the world has a TOTALLY CUT / ALTERED version of the movie, how bad for the people that buy those releases, right ?, oh well...
