Actually, I've watched around 7 japanese horror movies so far, and none have scared me.......maybe a part in Ringu 0 and one in Ju On, I find the american versions were much scarier.

I dont even know why I made this list, I was under the assumption these movies were all terryfying, seems to me most are decently acted, well filmed, but garbage scripts, 99% of the time they are talking about someone's emotions and other meaningless stuff to the film.

Every film drags and drags, they are made way too slow, at least if the story was amazing, but they arent.

I would'nt go near these. The ones I saw were Ringu 0 and 1, Ju On, Shutter, Reincarnation, Infection, Sairen (Siren) and the The Maid. I'm going to watch a few more, so far it's one stupid movie after the other, absolutely minimum horror.

I agreed with most of what you said above about Japanese horror movies. Then again, I think it is in their culture (good or bad, we've just got to respect that) to drag a storyline... and, the stuff they do is considered "scary" in Japan. Of course, you and I probably won't agree on that one.

On the other hand, I think gender plays a role in whether a film is scary or not too. I mean, some female friends of mine truly think Ringu 1 is very scary, especially when Sadako crawls out of the tv set... but to me, I was like... meh...

To me, scary or tension is when you do not or hardly ever see the "ghost", monster(s) or whatever hell at all. That is why I think masterpieces like The Shining or Alien were scary / tension filled.

Again, if you haven't checked out the original Thai made movie Shutter, check it out. I think it is one of the better scary movies in recent years.

Yeah, from all those I mentioned that I saw recently, Shutter was the scariest one. I still think The American version Ring is scary though, I liked it, and some parts that ive seen from Ring 0 - 1 and 2 were pretty creepy, it's just that the movie is too slow and drags on.

Ill watch ingu 3 and all the others see if there's other good ones, Dark water, locker 1-2 and more are next.

Anyone know what horror movie this one's from, at exactly the 2 minute part? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dId1bMhsGc4

And it's not Ju-On 1.

I finally saw a great Japanese Horror movie, called Ju-On The Curse 1 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0330500/

That half jaw cutie was amazing! Much better than the 2002 Ju-On.
