Got my ticket for a 3D showing in a few hours. Should be so so epic! I'll let you know what I think next Thursday.

Sounds like a 3D release is unlikely so I would be getting UHD then. Hopefully 3D happens somehow though.

Got 4DX 3D tickets booked for this bad boy. Idk if I can even bring myself to buy the UHD if they don't release this one on 3D... I have every single possible Marvel movie in 3D, it's like the crown jewel in my collection for sheer entertainment value and home cinema experience, it'll honestly be devastating if this one doesn't get a 3D release. I like my 4K discs but I haven't seen even a single UHD disc that bests even an average 3D counterpart for sheer immersion and experience.

To each their own.

I love both 4k and 3D and have tons of both, but 4k will always win if I need to make a choice. It's all down to personal choice

Indeed, personal choice is everything. Which is why it's a shame more and more studios are locking away versions of their movies (such as 3D, IMAX etc) either exclusively on bad platforms like streaming, or in the case of 3D more often than not, just not releasing them in the home at all. It's an affront to the artistry involved that these videos just sit on a studio's hard drives somewhere, gathering dust.

Sometimes I feel like the bane of any hobby is that when you get really involved in it, it naturally starts to affect your enjoyment. In the case of movies at home, I feel like people that are happy with DVD or streaming, don't pixel peep or lose hairs over sharpening, are indifferent to aspect ratios and colour timing etc, are like Cypher in The Matrix. They're technically not getting the full experience but they're happier overall. Ignorance is bliss as they say.

Sony knows what the fans want for sure. They do not wait around like Disney these days to put preorders up for their movies. Hopefully we see the Target & Best Buy Exclusives go up for preorder soon.

Do you think it's really Native 4K? Because I'm pretty sure its master is actually upscaled 2K

2K DCP. If it was native Sony would have output a 4K DCP for theaters as well. Just noticed someone changed again the native/upscale info in the database I submitted.

Most people just foolishly assume big movie = 4k DI, if you go on IMDb almost every movie that's in the post production stages is listed with "Digital Intermediate (4K) (master format)"

I haven't seen a single Marvel film actually be 4k native on a UHD yet, they are always upscaled. If there are any please tell me the titles! As for Sony, they are the 4k king for catalogue titles, but even Let There Be Carnage is an upscale on the 4k.

Just kidding, but someone on here will read what I just wrote and feel a compulsion to do it. Just wanted to plant that seed in some minds.
The real question is do we now move those films in with the MCU on the shelf?

Is it likely this won’t be 1.90 on disc? I figured since it’s a Sony title, there’d be more of a chance here.

Unlikely. Sony has stepped away from IMAX enhanced on disc (not that they ever released a single 1.90:1 disc). It'll likely be a streaming exclusive if it does hit somehow.

It's possible, but Far From Home only got the switching aspect ratio on FandangoNOW and that service no longer exists so that version is currently unavailable.
