Might be a good choice. The only other Swedish release I can think of is the extended cut of Evil Dead, but the Papercut website doesn’t carry it.

I’m not entirely sure how they managed to convince Virginia Madsen to do this. Her career seemed to be on the up, and then out of nowhere…this?!

The interview with Tim Doyle in the extras probably goes some way to explain why the movie ended up the way it did. It’s a frank interview, and he pulls few punches in laying (fair) blame where it’s due.

PQ/AQ are pretty much the same as the US release.

This has not aged well. It lacks the charm of LABYRINTH, and whilst Moroder’s opening song is pretty good, it pales in comparison to Bowie’s work, and the song is probably the best part of TNES.

I read the book – which is surprisingly excellent – before I saw the film on its release. I was totally underwhelmed, particularly at the nauseating ending which is totally different to the book.

You're not alone there: Michael Ende hated the film so much he sued to get his name taken off the credits.
