They look like steelbooks to me, but it's been suggested they are slipcovers similar to other boxsets Sony have been putting out, like Underworld & Karate Kid.

Very cool packaging, though the price needs to drop by half at least. Haven’t seen Afterlife yet, does it serve at a trilogy capper or is it launching a new one?

They’re not new scans, and nor is Karate Kid (though it has been tweaked slightly).

If they can normalize the brightness of the HDR of Ghostbusters 1, I'm happy. I'm not a fan of GB2 so I might not buy the set.

I'll stick with my individual steels of the only Ghostbusters films, 1 and 2. Didn't care for the other two. Interesting packaging though.

If you has Dobly that will be all the normalisation you’ll need.

Love these movies, so I will definitely pick up a box set. I'm actually really diggin' that design, I hope it's official. I guess it's safe to assume that these reissues will now have a DV grade? There hasn't actually been an official announcement yet from what I can see? Hopefully DV will refine the grain a bit like on Sony's new UHD of Labyrinth. And I dunno what the naysayers are talking about over in the Karate Kid thread, but it also looked pretty damn nice in DV when I watched it. Didn't have the previous disc to compare but I did not find any issues with the new disc at all. In fact, I hope we can expect more of the same with Ghostbusters.

If the Ghostbusters image quality is improved, and there are good features exclusive to this set, then I’m definitely getting it.

Also, the price difference between Amazon and Wal-Mart’s listing is huge. I wonder if Amazon will drop theirs or if Wal-Mart made a mistake.

A little of both. One of those 'pass the torch' type movies with the focus set on the new cast. I don't know if they've officially greenlit another movie but a sequel is likely.

I went ahead and preordered through Amazon, I’m sure it’s just the usual msrp initial preorder listing and it will drop to the $80-90 range Walmart is showing, if not I can always cancel.

This is listed as $89 on Walmart (more reasonable). Pre-order price drop should be a safe bet for Amazon.
