as per title
as 3d scrapes along now commercially, we still have some big releases and old restored titles, and a massive back catalogue that can be bought for next to nothing in what is by far and away the best format. but which year do you look back on most fondly? i loved the initial hype, but too much poor equioment and drought of content probably 2012 for me, it was still seen as a big thing, stores were hammering the content, dual play gaming, 3d surround systems instead of shitty soundbars, and there were some great films out by then |

The initial releases of Monsters vs Aliens and Avatar had been wow'd by 3D. But that soon came crashing down and I actively avoided it.
It was was in 2016 when I got my JVC x500 and saw How to Train Your Dragon I suddenly became a convert. I couldn't get enough of it. I think around 2017 IMAX put in a Laser in London so that then became my favourite era. All the new Block Busters were released in 3D there and I had to see them. Was probably the most excited I've ever been about going to the cinemas. Sad that time has finished. So 2017 to 2019 |
