I guess I'll just have to revise my spreadsheet once that part is confirmed.
The database is user-edited, so we basically adjust it based on the info Sony puts out before release. Basically, until a distributor officially releases the full specs you need to take the info in the database with a grain of salt.

Amazon.ca says release date is Dec 31, 2021?

Usually they just have "this title is not Available yet" for pre-orders.

Well, that's clearly not the release date. It's just a placeholder, and a bad one at that.

just ordered the 4k bluray from the same source and does say the same date but probably just a placeholder as I can't believe it so early as the movie still in theaters, wish it would be true thought

It can't be. There is a minimum 30-day theatrical window for Sony films.

And personally, as much as I'd like to own the movie now, I don't wish this to be the case. That diminishes the luxury of said theatrical run, plus it makes owning it at home a little less special as well. I wish they were still 4-6 month waits, personally. I know I'm likely in the minority here.

We saw this one in the theater yesterday (had never done a movie on Christmas Day before). My wife and I really enjoyed it. I was worried they were going to try to pack too much into it, as other sequels have done (I’m talking to you, Iron Man 3!), but it was awesome! I look forward to adding this to my collection.

Iron Man 3 packed too much into it?

That's the first time I've heard that criticism.

Spider-Man: NWH is probably the best and well written Spider-Man movie. Very entertaining and a great follow up to all previous live action movies.

Watched this at my local Vue Cinema.

As usual, picture and sound were awful. Picture was super dim and making things worse, the entrance door was left open which means the light through the opened door was reflecting on the screen constantly. At one point, closed the door myself but sadly someone else opened it shortly and it remained open there after. Genuinely surprised that except for 10% of the audience, the rest walked away when the end credits started rolling but I didn't like the post credit scene much lol.

The lead actors did a remarkable job. Tom Holland is bang on the money.

Movie was decent. I was expecting more TBH. Most scenes happen in the dark with loads of flashing lights which means this has the potential to sparkle on capable HDR displays.

Glad that we got a Hollywood movie crossing the $1bn mark after a while.

Looking forward to watching Doctor Strange 2.

Yeah I thought the post-credit scene had too many spoilers. I would have been fine with cutting its length in half. I think it was a trailer instead of an actual post-credits scene.
It sucks when a theater has doors that open directly into the hall and no corridors that hide the light from outside. The Doctor Strange stuff was really cool.

Yeah. The running time could have been trimmed by 20 minutes.

The portrayal of Spider-Man like a Villain and a menace was silly. Even my 10 year old questioned the logic behind it when Spiderman fought alongside the Avengers against Thanos and whatever happened to people's trust lol. How can it disappear just because Mysterio said so. This IMO is a major flaw. Besides this, it was okay.

I am glad to see it doing well at the box office. I hope we are out of this pandemic and back to normal life soon.

That is a good point about how fast the court of public opinion changed for Spider-Man. I wonder if they were trying to draw a parallel with cancel culture or something. Otherwise it is hard to imagine how his reputation could change so fast, especially considering that he did not only the Thanos stuff but also presumably a lot of ordinary crime-fighting that we don't see. I found myself asking if this could happen in real life and unfortunately I think it could, and probably over much smaller things than causing the death of someone or endangering classmates. It doesn't seem to take much to get some people riled up over something someone did these days.

Really enjoyed the movie. And the Atmos sound was amazing at my theater. Preordered the SB.

It is funny that you mention this as I remember when I was much younger, a long long time ago (lol), successful movies were deemed by the theatres showing them as being "held over" when they kept showing them due to public popularity.

When ET came to my theatre is was "Held Over" for 52 weeks, unheard of at that time.

Then again, home movies were just becoming a thing and it took well over a year to be able to purchase these ($100+ for the titles back then). If memory serves me correct, ET was not available for public release until 1988 (I remember because I won a contest to own a copy).

Having said that, I much prefer obtaining a movie much quicker nowadays.

Kevin Smith talks about how they had to wait about a year for Batman (1989) to come to VHS as well. That's too distant from its theatrical release and people would forget about it at that time. Six months is also pushing it, but having a little 4-5 month delay is pretty nice. Like before Tenet and outside of Interstellar, Nolan films release in July and then come to home video before Christmas. That is good build-up and anticipation.

I'm also not a fan of it releasing digitally before physical, but that's me being a stubborn BD/UHD owner/collector.
