They've had two opportunities to address these questions and didn't each time, big missed opportunity.

No one ever talks about the xenomorph that popped out of the space jockey’s chest in Alien. I’m guessing it went around looking for food and died of starvation. How sad…

I wonder if that was the same fate that the things created by David dropping the black liquid on the engineer planet suffered. It seemed weird to me that the only neomorphs we see in Covenant were the ones created due to the crew themselves. Maybe they wiped out all the edible life-forms on the planet and starved or something.

From everything we know the Pathogen's purpose's to cleanse a planet of life entirely, the first stage being the highest dosage upon deployment causing instantaneous death, the second stage being it contaminates the air and water causing various instances of Trilobites and Deacons to appear because of the remaining living things procreating, the third stage being the remaining lifeforms turning into Abominations, the final stage of the process being Pods and Motes within being created from microbes in the atmosphere laying dormant for anything to contaminate to create a Neomorph. Granted though, depending upon the circumstances stages II and III, and the final stage perhaps often overlap with each other, but in all likelihood it happens in such an order. It is ultimately unknown, but I believe the Pods and Motes then expire after a length of time, resulting in the planet being empty, such as we see in the beginning of Prometheus' prologue, ready for it to start again.
We know the Pathogen's not a creator of sustaining life, or a habitat changer, considering the outbreak on LV-223 over 2000 years ago by the time of Prometheus, as all the Engineers perished apart from a single one sealed away and evidently a Neomorph or Deacon's scream's heard when the hologram system first activates in the tunnel system. "The Deacon" (In essence a Neomorph itself in all but the origin) only exists because by David's own admission the Pathogen reacts to human sexual organs in an alternate way, hence he uses Doctor Elizabeth Shaw's to fashion the Alien, and bring an equally worthy artificial intelligence in his eyes into existence. Because in terms of function it's all in essence identical: A Pathogen infected zygote/Pod/Egg Trilobite/Mote/Facehugger Deacon/Neomorph/Alien |

Aliens eat people, right? I know the embryo infant chest burster feeds off the internal blood and body of the host before bursting out like a special wasp larvae from a caterpillar, but it's rare in an Alien film if we see them actually devouring a person.
How they gain energy to function and survive being the main question. |

I can imagine they eat other living things, or gain energy to survive sometimes through cannibalism possibly.
Or maybe they're really like Vampires, since they have that inner jaw, which would get in the way of eating probably, so they lock the inner jaw onto the victim and absorb all their blood. That makes sense. They're not machines so they have to consume something for energy and nutrition. How long can an Alien Xenomorph live for? Having a queen, are they like wasps or hornets? |

![]() Probably questions I have that don't need answers, since these are just movie monsters. If there is a queen, I imagine she lives the longest, being the largest and producing many eggs. If Liz Shaw didn't cut out that Xenobaby, it probably would've forced its way out through her stomach, which is much easier to exit than someone's chest or back. No bones in the stomach. |

Considering her inability to bear children was a plot point, she was inseminated by her infected husband, and the critter was gestating in her uterus, if the filmmakers followed the theme through, it would have come out the old-fashioned way, if you know what I mean.

![]() Still love to get way more about this. As we’ve discussed, a weapon like that seems extreme and wouldn’t be anyones first choice due to the unreliability and danger it presents to those that attempt to manage it. If the goal is to destroy and then create…. Some good bombs handle the destroy part quite efficiently and with little or no potential harm to the bomb droppers. You get the idea. |

If you watch Aliens, notice how the opening credits and blocks of credits last for not more than 3 seconds from fade in to fade out for each section of opening credits?
So you'll see about 3 lines to read through, and they give you literally no more than 3 seconds before it's gone after being visible in that time too. They clearly wanted to rush through the credits but I wish they didn't. I'd have to pause the movie just to read all of the credits in the start. Executive Producer Some Name Director of Photography Some Name Editor Some Name They show all of that, and you have to read it all in 3 seconds or less flat. I am surprised I never noticed that before. So about 1 second to fade in/out, and the other 2 seconds to read it all before it disappears. |
