I saw this in cinema and I liked it a lot. I don't think it's comparable to the kinds of historical drama that Ammonite was. However, it is very likely that it takes a fair amount of artistic license, but I don't care at all about the royals to care how fairly they're depicted. It's not trying to be based that closely on real events. I found it more of a psychological horror film that tries to capture a sense of what Diana's emotional space might have been during the three days depicted. Also, Kristen Stewart and Timothy Spall in particular are fantastic in it. I don't think it's anywhere approaching a dumpster fire, although how you feel about pearls might make you feel differently.
