Thanks...Got it finally. Yeah this is ceartainly a good starting point. I especially like the archiving section, where you can share real life experiences with others that may have a similar one to share. This would certainly paint a nostalgic picture down memory lane.

With movies, I think the studios can have live interaction between the viewers about the cinematography, directors influence, CG vs real action, and the list goes on. Kinda like what we do here on blu-ray, however movie specific.

Once the technology gets to the market, video links can be provided between blu-ray recorders( 1TB harddrive) and people can make A/B comparisons between how studios do things differently. Its also possibel to create a montage of favorite action scenes.

I hope this is possible, please correct me if I'm wrong. Any other thoughts or ideas?

Thumbs down

I tried BD Live with a few disc's... the content wasn't worth the slowness of it though. download was slow... player was slow to react.. basically it appeared to overwhelm the player.

my wireless bridge was plenty fast too.. the content out there for BD Live IMHO is lame. You can find all the same material online easy.

Hey this also is a concern for me as of now. So your saying by using this feature it actually causes the player to become slower?

Would it be better to leave it alone and use the ethernet port primarily for fimware upgrades until it has some credibility?

Can anyone offer up some ideas to where BDlive will be successful, those with vision?

yeah i agree this forum would benefit a great deal if things like this were to occur. Blu-ray.com could have a library of reviews with a link to the BD live section of the movie. so people could use one place as a hub.

I always find myself clicking on the BD-Live icon after watching a movie, but I've yet to find anything worthwhile...

I tried this out for a bit registering Sony BDs in hope to get discounts and rewards from the Sony store but, then I found out you can only use one code at a time. It doesn't pay to use Sony Rewards. It's still cheaper to buy at Amazon.

I never used it.
I seldom watch extras too.
If I want to know more about a film I google it, it's more comfortable IMO.

Exactly!
I wish the studios would focus on high quality video and audio, hopefully 7.1. After all, it's a movie.

That is the main benefit to owning a profile 2.0 BD-LIVE player is it offers an Internet connection to install firmware updates in around 10 minutes to watch the latest new releases. In the old days with older players one had to spend a hour or so downloading and burning to a optical disc from their PC and then inserting the disc in the BLU-RAY player.

I would rather have higher bit rate Super Bit BLU-RAY discs that uses the entire 50GB disc for the best possible picture and audio quality. The extras could be placed on a second disc.

Now when it comes to BD-LIVE some features I like and others I do not. I like some of the early Sony titles that allowed one to download HD quality trailers. I also like it when new commentary tracks are offered with BD-LIVE. I perfer the download method instead of streaming. The problem with streaming is that one cannot fast scan or reverse scan. One time I watched a commentary track with BD-LIVE and I was upset only streaming option was available and not download. I could only pause the movie, I could not scan back or forward. So if you missed something someone said during the BD-LIVE commentary you had to start the entire movie over.

BD-LIVE is neat sometimes but if it was every discontinued on all future releases it would not bother me.
