It’s now my third time asking Shout for replacement discs. They keep coming back scratched. I wonder what the record is for how many times someone has asked them to be repeatedly replaced. I feel so annoying asking asking for new ones every time, but they keep coming scratched! Why is this such an issue with these particular releases? I’ve never had a single Arrow disc arrive with even a faint scratch.

You have to write them using their contact form and ask for an update key.

where did this thing land color-grading wise? there are 2 versions on BD in this. is one of them the super warm old version? or just variations on the cooler palette? thx for any info. this movie has been on my list to buy for a while and i'm still not sure what the "definitive" version is to get but this one seems close? fwiw i don't have a 4k player at the moment but dont mind future-proofing as long as they come with blu rays

Order the shout 4k new from Amazon ship and and sold by them and got it today open with no slip and had smudges on the disc that did clean off. Trying to decide if I want to go the trouble of returning for just the slip? Can’t recall this happening before in all my time of ordering new movies from them.

I had to return two of the five for exchanges due to scratches.
Does it seem like H1, if you ignore the major glitches in that one scene in H2, got the worst encode of the lot? Also, in your opinion (general ?) does the Lions gate 4K fall under the umbrella of the 35th Anniversary restoration (even though it had a 40th sticker on it) or was it a from a new restoration? They certainly looked similar. Last edited by Brian81; 01-01-2022 at 03:28 AM. |

I still don’t understand one thing:
DVDCOMPARE (HALLOWEEN - THE COMPLETE COLLECTION, SHOUT FACTORY, 2014 RELEASE) Halloween (1978) Both discs allocated to the original film feature the same video specs - 2.35:1 1080p 24/fps AVC MPEG-4 – but each has distinct color timing. Disc one features the 35th anniversary edition transfer, which was championed by most fans, as well as the John Carpenter and Dean Cundey; or there’s disc two, which has the “altered” color timing, that was released back in 2007. http://dvdcompare.net/review.php?rid=3420 DVDCOMPARE (HALLOWEEN - SHOUT FACTORY, 2021 RELEASE) http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=11773#5 Notes: The Theatrical Version on the Blu-ray 4K disc and the first Blu-ray disc feature a 4K Scan from the original negative, approved by cinematographer Dean Cundey. The transfer for the film on disc 2 is the 2007 Blu-ray transfer which itself is based on the debatable Divimax transfer, although it's more orange/yellow tinted. The transfer for the film on disc 2 (2014 release) and the transfer for the film on disc 2 (2021 release) are identical? the version approved by the director of photography is Divimax? which one is the real theatrical color timing? None of them are claiming to be the original theatrical color timing. Last edited by DR Herbert West; 01-11-2022 at 07:26 AM. |

Just a thought
With Scream (a Dimension produced production) now being handled by Paramount and Shout being licensed some Paramount films (King Kong and Event Horizon) What are the chances that Halloween 6 (both theatrical and producers cuts), H20 and Resurrection getting the 4K UHD treatment by Shout? |
