Okay, the bad news is that remote is not a 12v trigger. That jack only is for other Yamaha components so you can use the remote for zone 2.

No, it doesn't look like it. Check page 112 of your manual which explains that remote jack.

You know, I have the 12v triggers but never use them, it makes it harder for other people to turn you stuff on, meaning the wife, kids, etc.

man...i tell ya what....i never thought the quality and purity of sound would be so much different with a dedicated amp...i mean i knew it was gonna sound somewhat better and cleared....but my jaw dropped when i heard it!

A dedicated amp is gonna beat the receiver all day, I'm very curious about demo-ing one of these XPA-3's.

i mean even at low volumes.....its just unreal....now i really want an xpa 2 to finish off the system....how much difference will and audio/video processor make?

I used to have an Outlaw 990 and it wasn't any better than using my receiver as the processor, but there are better offerings in the works.
