Lack of Amazon link makes sense since their feud with Disney is still happening.

Not really. Best Buy sometimes has listings six months in advance, sometimes only a few weeks (if that).

I see. But it only seem to be on that listing posted here. Wonder when it will soon appear on other retail sites and a Press release must be coming soon too.

Due to COVID and not being able to see this in theaters this will be a blind buy for me, but one I will be happy to buy that way! And with talk of Death on the Nile, that will be another blind buy for me if it comes out in 4k.

Oh, I've just came back from the screening (it started today in russia). Can't wait to buy it on 4k. This one really needs HDR and 4K, it's such a beautiful cinematography with lots of high contrast afternoon light scenes. Can't wait.

Went to a 35mm screening of it tonight - with Del Toro doing Q&A after - and that was the first question asked by the audience. He said the initial release will be the original color version, but he does intend for there to be a more special edition down the line with both versions included.

Was able to see this in a Dolby Cinema at the AMC Burbank and based on that viewing, it should look incredible with HDR. Del Toro has always been meticulous with the lighting and color in his films and this one is certainly no slouch.

I also saw it in black and white at the Grove (it was digital, but GDT was also there for a Q&A, the man is truly generous with his time and interaction with fans) and I honestly think that as great as the HDR full color version is, the absolute best way to watch is in black and white.

Was hoping Disney would package the two together, and they probably will for streaming like WB did for Mad Max. If there’s a deluxe version UHD I’ll hold out for that.

I really hope both versions are included, even if the B&W version is BD only. (But I want it in 4K as well.)

Missed this in theaters, but I love del Toro so I'll likely get this (probably from the DMC).

It just goes to show that both WILD THINGS and THE HANDMAIDEN understood this material better by introducing a final act lesbian double cross. They’re the more interesting characters here and re teaming Blanchett and Mara would have been amazing. Del Toro so strictly following the original material just feels regressive.

That would’ve completely changed both of those characters and wouldn’t have made any sense. This is film noir, not an erotic thriller.

Yeah, if it was an erotic thriller there’d be gypsies giving handjobs in bathtubs.

Definitely not gonna bother with the color version, it's trash compared to the B&W one

The movie wasn’t shot in B&W so I imagine it’s one of those faux conversions that doesn’t really work like Parasite, Fury Road, etc.

Fury Road and Parasite were both specifically converted and graded in black and white after the fact to take advantage of it properly, instead of being tossed thru a greyscale-ification. Not that they're perfect or anything but there's an optimal way to convert something and that's how both were handled.

I’m sure it’s coming. The press release for The Last Duel came out a month before it’s release.
