I'm sorry, but i don't buy the "what isn't on frame will easily get/kill you" just to grab spectators attention, because people in survival circumstances are always on alert mode. When Cole is sent in the air by the skullcrawler he would have dropped 1 or both grenades with the impact and they would have flown separately ways and the explosion spots wouldn't be Cole's body as it was shown.

But don't get me wrong... the movie is good, but for me isn't great because of those i mentioned.

Edit: limited pop outs and region free. It looked more like a gecko than a dragon.

Just watched The Legendary Dragon. Agree with Okiephile, good 3D, but rough script and acting. Was expecting more of a fantasy film with a dragon, but the story was about “cryptozoologists” trying to capture a new lizard species before a villain hunter kills it as a trophy. The lizard seemed to change size throughout, varying from about the size of a cow to a huge alligator, but no dragon. On land it looked more like a big fence lizard or anole, and in the water, it looked an awful lot like a tadpole. Lots of baffling dialog and plot holes. In my opinion, the movie was a stinker. But all this low-budget nonsense was in beautiful 3D.

I hope you turned your label inside out so you don’t have to look at that ugly ratings circle.

No, I would buy it and then sell it and then in a few years buy it again. Seriously, I’m glad I have it there’s a lot worse and the 3D is very good.

I might have been too harsh. Hate to discourage a 3D buy. The 3D is vivid and sharp, but the movie itself had me rolling my eyes a lot. It’s totally fine as a Saturday afternoon, cheesy “monster” movie.

That pretty much describes many movies from the Bronze Age of 3D.

I’m not saying it didn’t have any flaws, just that the flaws are microscopic compared to the flaws in the other three. I can deal with some suspension of disbelief in a giant monster movie.

For this weekend we watched the two Thor movies we hadn't seen: The original Thor and The Dark World.

The 3D was significantly improved for The Dark World and I liked the story better. However IMO the Natalie Portman/Jane character ruins both movies.
Lady Sif would have been a much better love interest.

just watched Monster Hunter and this is quite mild depth. they really could have done a much better job at it. I don't regret the buy because I liked the movie but the 3D is quite meh.

Portman & "Goop" phasing themselves out of the MCU was a great move, I wish Marvel had done it sooner.

Would you rank these Thor films at/near the bottom of the MCU 3D films?

I think the Dark World is in the top half and the movie is very good, imo.

Edit: I forgot also a great lenticular slip.

Last watched was Tekken Blood Vengeance. Pretty good cgi anime with some impressive sfx. Everything a fan of anime could ask for including stylized fighting, exaggerated muscles and other body parts , demons, huge monsters, and an ok storyline. The dubbing was pretty good too (don't berate me please ).

The 3d was pretty good for 2011.

Oh man, those are some of my favorites! It Follows and A Quiet Place (first one) for example. The latter I really wish would have been 3d along with the sequel. Maybe if I ever get a good converting player.

To be honest I don't think I will be re-watching either one for awhile.
Dark World was better than the first but neither even touches Ragnarok IMO. But I would have to put The Dark World within my top 10 Marvel movies.

But seeing the first movie explains so much about Loki, it's important to watch.

I confess, I have no clue what "Goop" is.

Just watched JUNGLE CRUISE. It is PAINFULLY OBVIOUS that this movie was shot for 3D (and shown in theaters in 3D.)
It was so saddening to watch knowing that there is no way I can see it the way it was meant to be seen.

With the film being so obviously made for 3D, does Jungle Cruise convert well enough on home equipment? I'm not sure which is the more "made for 3D" film locked into 2D from 2021, it or The King's Man.

Which reminds me that I forgot about They Shall. Since Peter Jackson went from 3D visionary to not getting his 3D film released on bluray, that's something of a sobering counterpoint to the hope that Cameron will reignite the Bronze Age of 3D bluray with Avatar 2.

You'll be pleased to know Natalie Portman is back for the next Thor movie.

Gwyneth Paltrow (it's her lifestyle brand).

Yes, to the extent that watching the film in 2D just feels like watching a colour film in black and white. You can't shake the knowledge that your viewing experience is not what it should be.

That would be like taking the black and white version of a colour film and colourising it yourself. No substitute for the real thing.
