The new US Anthology set has both Road Warrior AND Thunderdome corrected with new disc numbers ending in .2. It also has a new case and isn't stacked discs anymore, same size but now has a middle tray.

If I see this in-store anywhere I'll grab it and swap out my discs for The Road Warrior and Thunderdome.

Does it still come with the slip box and are the discs still yellow?

Discs are still yellow, and it does have a slip box, but the case is slightly thicker to accommodate the middle tray. I wanted to try to swap the discs and do a refund to make up for buying the older set, but I think I'd rather have a middle tray than be stuck stacking my discs. I guess the old set is going to have to be sold, though I doubt anyone would really want it unless they don't care about the sound quality. |

That's so cool that Bob Bailey listened to my suggestion to upgrade the audio to DTS-HD Master Audio as a goodwill gesture if disc space allowed.

Apologies if this has been asked and answered a load of times (I have searched various threads but can't find the answer).
Does the first Mad Max have the original audio in this set or is it a downmix of a remix? |

I still have my Warner 4k UHD of Mad Max. I'm pretty sure the Aussie English DD 2.0 is the original Mono, though the 5.1 (also billed as Australian English) seemed to be the US dub for some crazy reason. Any particular spots to check?

Welp, after reading these last few pages I'm getting the "Corrected" Anthology set and looking to find someone who wouldn't mind the first release with the audio issues.
My love of this series has me eating about $70 but I wouldn't want to watch Road Warrior with messed up audio and to have a copy of Thunderdome with lossless audio is definitely a huge plus. |

considering the American dub in itself had some added sound effects not in the Australian mix, you could check to see whenever Max is running towards the bodies of his families, if you hear his boots as he's running across the road and then hear a sound effect of the rifle falling on the ground then it's the American mix, if not it's the Aussie mix

Only Kino has the American dub. It’s nice to have for completions sake. But I would never watch the whole movie with that on. |

I just got the (UK) 4K set today so have checked it myself. Also, I know it was mentioned somewhere in this thread but why have Warners listed a bunch of extras on the Mad Max back cover that don't appear anywhere? WTF? Last edited by blueman_Richie; 02-03-2022 at 01:59 PM. Reason: posted misinformation regarding audio tracks, sorry! |

what the user did was take the mono track from the Euro DVD but didn't realize that there was a European mix made that was different from both the Aussie and American tracks, they used the Aussie dialogue but with some of the sound effects of the American dub added into it, didn't think I had to post this video again but here's are a few samples of a mid-80s Australian TV broadcast that proves that Kino's Aussie mono track is legitimate (which is the same track that Warner's 4K version uses), I did not touch anything other than just cutting the various clips together the idiot who made that "comparison" video refuses to take it down even though I kept insisting myself in the past in his own comment section that his video is wrong To sum it up, only the MGM and Shout! Factory blu-rays have a downmix, the Kino 4K (along with the Warner 4K) have the original, and despite Kino's regular blu-ray version using the older master, it too has the original mix available Last edited by SpacemanDoug; 02-03-2022 at 12:54 PM. |
