Default 1923: Another Yellowstone Prequel - Paramount +

Another Yellowstone Prequel

Quote:
Paramount+ is expanding the saga of the Dutton family.

The streamer has ordered more episodes of 1883 along with another Yellowstone prequel series, it announced Tuesday.

The new show is titled 1932 and “will follow a new generation of Duttons during the time of Western expansion, Prohibition and the Great Depression.”

Man, if I didn't enjoy Westerns I'd be annoyed they're milking it, but actually, bring it on.

TV now needs more Western shows (movies would be great too).

Taylor Sheridan writes or co-writes every episode of Yellowstone, 1883, Mayor of Kingstown, probably 6666 and now probably this... Paramount better be careful or they'll burn him out lol

I'd love to see a new Western movie directed by Clint Eastwood, but I'm guessing they can't afford him.

I can't wait for Yellowstone: 2049 where replicants Beth and Rip are hunted down by blade runner Jamie, while Kaycie and Monica can't decide what virtual old age home to live in, the one that looks like a reservation or the one that looks like the ranch.

Still, he's talked about how he hasn't slept in months or something. He's writing the 2 currently running Yellowstone shows, Mayor of Kingstown, 6666 is in development. 1932 was picked up. And he's involved with four other shows coming that he's producing, not sure about his actual involvement in the actual writing/production though. So he better be careful lol

changed to 1923

Quote:
It was announced Monday that the prequel series “1932” will now instead be known as “1923” and will take place in the new titular year as opposed to the former. Per the new logline, “1923” focuses on the Dutton family’s next two generations as they struggle to survive historic drought, lawlessness and prohibition, and an epidemic of cattle theft; all battled beneath the cloud of Montana’s great depression, which preceded the nation by almost a decade. The show will also touch on the end of World War I, which occurred in 1918.

The show serves as a followup to the “Yellowstone” prequel “1883,” which followed a generation of the Dutton family as they move across the country to settle in Montana. It debuted on Paramount+ in December 2021 and starred Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott. As previously announced, Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford are set to star in “1923.”

Think Dynasty out in nature.

Ford is definitely worth the $1 Million. I wouldn’t be surprised if they felt they also had to also give to it to Mirren so people wouldn’t talk about pay equity.

Just the opposite Helen Mirren is worth the million and more. She's still doing quality work.

Harrison Ford's acting had fallen off the cliff. The older he get the worse he gets. Indiana 4, Cowboys and Aliens, Anchorman 2, Force Awakens, Blade Runner 2049, he was awful in my opinion.

Beyond how great Young Harrison was in the popcorn films he was excellent in dramatic films like Frantic [still no bluray in US and I absolutely love this film], Witness, Blade Runner. In my opinion he's lost it.

Frantic is out in the US.

And you clearly didn't see 42. One of his best roles in his career. And Morning Glory was delightful.

I wasn't speaking on their acting skills, more so on their star power. Harrison Ford is one of the most iconic movie stars of all time. Helen Mirren is a great actress.

I saw 42, that was talked about as Oscar bait. I'll stick with my opinion, same as the other films I mentioned, Harrison was terrible. The movie wasn't that good either and in some ways was a disservice to the memory of Jackie Robinson. Just like I felt Selma made Martin Luther King jr. look boring.

My mistake I just looked at the standalone Frantic and never realized it came out with Presumed Innocent which is also a pretty good movie.. I'll have to get it.

I never saw Morning Glory and wasn't that interested. Wasn't it a remake of Broadcast News?

Edit: I just bought this Harrison Ford 5 movie collection for $25 [incl tax]. So I'll finally be getting Frantic. This movie when released on bluray really slipped by me. I also used to own 42 but sold it so guess I'm getting it back again. I hope The Fugitive will be the new remastered one but the $25 is worth it for Frantic alone. I guess the packaging sucks.

Don't get me wrong, I know my opinion is harsh on recent Harrison Ford films but I'm a big fan of his early films. Just picked up the Indy 4K box even though the last two films weren't great in my opinion but Sean Connery is in the third one and Karen Allen saves the fourth one.

...and The Fugitve is one of the greatest films ever made and for THAT film Harrison should have at the very least been nominated for Best Actor which he wasn't. He should have gotten Lawrence Fishburne's spot and Liam Neeson should have won the Academy Award for Best Actor not Tom Hanks...my two cents.

Gotcha, I agree with that. They hired Harrison for his name value which is still strong given they are making Indy 5

some new cast announced

Quote:
The Dutton family is expanding with the addition of James Badge Dale (Hightown, 24), Darren Mann (Animal Kingdom, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), and Marley Shelton (Never Been Kissed, Rise) to the Paramount+ Yellowstone spinoff 1923.

Additional newly added cast members include Michelle Randolph (The Resort), Brian Geraghty(Big Sky, Chicago P.D.), Aminah Nieves (Blueberry, V/H/S/99), and Julia Schlaepfer (The Politician).

They join previously announced leads Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren who will portray the Dutton family’s patriarch and matriarch, Jacob and Cara, respectively. As well as Sebastian Roché whose casting was exclusively announced by Deadline earlier this month.
Character descriptions from Paramount+ can be found below.

Ford will play Jacob Dutton, the patriarch of the Yellowstone ranch, husband to Cara Dutton, and brother of James Dutton; Mirren will play Cara Dutton, the wife to Jacob Dutton and family matriarch.

Dale will play John Dutton Sr., the oldest nephew and right-hand man of Jacob Dutton; Mann will play Jack Dutton, John Dutton Sr.’s son and great-nephew to Jacob Dutton. He is a dedicated rancher who is deeply loyal to his family; Shelton will play Emma Dutton, the dutiful wife of John Dutton Sr. and the mother of Jack Dutton.

Randolph will play Elizabeth Strafford, a feisty and capable young woman set to marry into the Dutton family.

Geraghty will play Zane, a fiercely loyal ranch foreman; Nieves will play Teonna Rainwater, a young woman at a government residential boarding school; Schlaepfer will play Alexandra, a British woman who meets one of the Duttons abroad.

The new installment from Taylor Sheridan will introduce a new generation of the Dutton family and explore the early 20th century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression all plague the Mountain West, and the Duttons who call it home.

The Dutton family’s saga began with Yellowstone, led by Kevin Costner in the role of John Dutton, returning with its fifth season on November 13. The series follows the drama involving the family and local residents of their Montana ranch, Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, which borders the Broken Rock Indian Reservation. Gil Birmingham, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Danny Huston, and Cole Hauser also star.
