Wow, this looks like one of the worst comedies ever made, a complete and utter disaster, and if it ever gets released on 3D Blu, it’ll be mine on street date. I gotta have it. Amazing that Steve was in this AND Can’t Stop The Music, another one of the worst comedies ever made.

I've been researching Chinese 3D films and making a list of Chinese 3D unavailable to watch at home. For most conversions, I've listed what studios converted them, based on end credits, IMDB, and company websites.

Just watched the credits for Black Butterfly (2017). It looks like an autoconversion software called "3D Evolution System" was applied. Doesn't seem like a professional conversion by post-production artists.

As far as I can tell, from searching google for old theater showtimes in Russian, Guardians (2017) never played in 3D. Lots of Russian theaters were playing The Great Wall, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and Sing in 3D at the same time, while showing Guardians in 2D. I can't find one 3D showtime for Guardians. I don't know if it ever got converted.

What translates as a stereo compositor is credited in the end credits from Argunov Studios, but they don't list anything about 3D conversion services on their website--just VFX and 3D matte painting.

Tanhaji is not native 3D. It's a 3D conversion by DNEG/Prime Focus' India division.

Spies in Disguise and The Addams Family are stereo conversions by DNEG too. Even some animated movies are being preferentially converted now.

Not an entirely new development. Hoodwinked Too, Escape from Planet Earth and Ratchet & Clank were all conversions.

There was a new Indian movie called BellBottom that got a 3D theatrical release, only in India I believe. The Blu-Ray.com poster even has “3D” on it. Think I read it was converted

Yep, the 3D version was only released in India, and it was converted.

More Indian films are getting released in 3D, such as '83, Brahmastra and some regional films.

Yes, The King's Daughter was converted to 3D in 2018 by BigSharksStudio for the Chinese market. 3D version has not been released.

Thanks. The PR that I've seen for this makes it look like it could have been 3D, which would be explained by an on-set stereoscopic consultant. Did this film release in China circa 2018 then?

I'm looking at that Big Shark Studio's website and, like the other 3D converters' sites, it looks so barebones. The page states that it is a portfolio but, so far as my browser shows, there are no video clips or images, so they're using a movie no one can see to show their chops.

I noticed that WHITE SNAKE (2019) is included in your fascinating lists but, try as I might, I can find nothing to suggest the film was ever released in 3-D. Contemporary reviews talk about 'CGI 3D', which isn't the same thing at all, but none of them (those that I've found, anyway) mention anything about stereoscopy. Nor is there any mention of 3-D on any of the ad-mats of the time, both Chinese and English-language. It may be that I'm simply looking in the wrong places, especially since the film was released at a time when stereo animation was viewed as commercially advantageous. But the fact that no 3-D home video version has ever surfaced suggests this one may have been produced and released in 2-D only. I hope I can be proved wrong!

From China to Japan: BUNGALOW, a 1982 production listed by Eddie Sammons in his book The World of 3-D Movies. He was unable to locate any other info on this particular film, except that it was shot in 'Ultravision'. This may be the same Ultra Vision used on MAGNIFICENT BODYGUARDS, which captured separate left-right Techniscope images on two cameras, before they were printed in single-strip/over-under format for theatrical release. Try as I might, I can find no other reference to BUNGALOW in any source anywhere, even in Japanese sites devoted to 3-D.

All of Light Chaser Animation Studios' films have been released in 3D. From what I can tell, they have a native 3D production pipeline like Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, Illumination, etc. in the USA.

Reading/Google translating a little more, it seems like White Snake was originally released in 2D January 11- February 17, 2019. It had a theater run with good box office and good reviews, and Light Chaser pulled it from cinemas early, saying they wanted to re-release a re-rendered 3D version with an upgraded soundtrack later in 2019. This re-release got delayed, but Douban says it was re-released in July 2020. I can't tell if the re-release was actually shown in 3D or not. I know there were 3D showtimes for the sequel.

I don't know anything about "Bungalow". Seems like a decent number of short films were shot with StereoVision 3-D for Japanese expos and science museums in the early to mid 1980s.

Contrary to Wikipedia and other sources, Blu-ray.com members suggest that Magnificent Bodyguards was shot with the same Super Touch/Optimax III system as Dynasty and Revenge of the Shogun Women, based on the rig shown in behind-the-scenes footage in a trailer.
