Finally popped this disc in and I feel its been brought up man is the audio dialogue low. I was wondering if it was my speakers but can’5 be. Using emotivas and c1 for the center. But the score is loud & I am hearing sound & musical ques I never did before.
Also transfer is a beauty, you guys weren’t lying. I need to check out Jaws & Full Metal Jacket and others from that era. 2001 is a beauty too. Last edited by Captain.Monkey; 02-16-2022 at 07:03 AM. |

Yes so long as you go in with the expectation that it is a loose sequel, not a direct continuation of the story. (It's set about 40 years later).

It's absolutely a worthy sequel. Well acted, well written, well directed, and so forth. It's respectful to both Kubrick and King while mostly standing on its own. Make sure you watch the director's cut.

The perfect cut would be somewhere between the theatrical and directors cut. Some moments in the directors cut really aren't needed, but the extra stuff with Rose and co is great.

I prefer the theatrical version too, although the eyeball color scene should’ve been left in.

It’s one title I’d like Criterion to pick up, and give the film an Ultimate Edition or have WB Revisit it and create this:
3 Disc 4K set All with the original MONO MIX in PCM, and 5.1 options Original Saul Bass WB opening logo Disc 1 Theatrical Cut Disc 2 UK Cut Disc 3 Theatrical Cut Open Matte / Full Frame |

This is what I would like to see....
This is the DVD open matte ![]() This is the BD WS ![]() and this is how I envision it should be.....Once I stacked the two, you should then see the pink areas with info. ![]() I would like to think that this would be more like a true 1.45 or 1.55 aspect ratio? Something like that. |

Nooo, your not looking at it right. What I was trying to show was to get the better of both the matted (sides) to the un-matted (top and bottom) and basically get the full view of what was captured on film.....everything! Thats what I would like to see as an additional option. You would not see the pink cause it would be filled by what was lost.
Showing everything of what was shot would give us a better clarity quality picture cause nothing would be zoomed in. I know many people would not like this.....but I would prefer this as an option as a fullframe. |

You would end up with rounded corners and other garbage in the frame if you presented the film with the full aperture.

![]() ![]() I understand though. It would require alot of effort to gain the best, fullest frame without any form of film obstructions. *edit* would still be sweet to have an open matte option though. *edit again* The color/temp of that frame shot looks damn sweet though. Love the Full Frame.
Especially the opening titles. It makes it more vast, feels like an Imax presentation. Something about certain shots through out make the hallways tall in comparison to Danny on his big wheel while passing thru them. Of course this being how it has been presented on home video for practically 20+ years is why many like the full frame option. (Before it was released in widescreen) |
