Sorry, must have missed that. I have TrueMotion on at the moment. Just because I think the image is less “choppy” that way. I have tried turning it off though but it doesn’t seem to help with the picture noise/flicker.

I also have Real Cinema "Off" as well. Some people believe it helps with 24p content, but from what I can tell, it's just another smoothing/processing function that changes the intended picture. Even with Real Cinema set to "Off," I'm receiving a 24 Hz signal from my Panasonic 820, meaning it is displaying the images as 24 frames a second, like it should. |

For the Panasonic 820, the 24p option actually sends out a 24 Hz signal to the TV. The TV naturally does 5:5 pulldown on the movie, which reproduces the movie exactly the way it should be. Real Cinema/Cinema Screen should not be used since a 24 Hz signal is already being sent. By activating this, it introduces (to me at least), the soap opera effect. So, it's possible this might be affecting how your playback is. Last edited by PUsokrJosh305; 02-24-2022 at 11:05 PM. |

I just ordered a UB9000 from multiregionmagic and it turned up today, I've had a crappy first 2 months of the year with health issues so this was a massive treat to myself
Jesus this thing is a beast, for the last 3 years I've been using a stock UB820 along with a multiregion Sony S6700 and was getting fed up of having to use the cheaper player for my locked discs which deserved more love. It already feels far more responsive than my 820 which can be temperamental at times and I also see what all the fuss has been about in here when it comes to the 9000's remote. It may have been over kill considering the player costs more than the TV its being used on lol but TV's come and go and no guarantee we're gonna see players of this calibre again (RIP Oppo and dont even say Reavon lol)so its nice to have both the 820 and 9000 in the house. |

Just ordered another 820 after my previous one decided to start buggering up 4K discs. Blus? Fine. DVDs, not problem. Just 4Ks.
There is a real drought of 820s in the UK at the moment, with the first company I ordered from missing its stock date, and vaguely pushing it back two weeks with no promises. Oh, but the 9000 was available, and could let me have it for £800 (£100 less). With Panasonic UK not even having them at their online shop, nor any date for delivery, I decided to go for a pre-modded one from a specialist company, as at least they are sitting in the stockroom ready to go. On Tuesday, was told there were "plenty in stock", so waiting two days for funds to clear was no problem. A message came through on the Thursday advising me that all but the one I had earmarked had gone! Not sure if it's a shipping or manufacturing problem, but they becoming much harder to get from general retailers, not to mention more costly. Looking forward to cracking open the old player and giving it a good ding-out, which might solve the problem, one which the modding company had never heard of before, and are keeping on file in case anyone else reports the same thing. |

How does this player handle minor surface level scratches on a BD/UHD? I am looking at getting one, but have heard it is more sensitive in this regard. I have a few blu rays and 4Ks that have some small scratches. My Sony player hasn't had any issues with playing these discs, but I would hate to replace it and then have several discs that skip when they were fine on another player.

It seems like the later production seems to be more semsitive than the older players. I bought my 820 and 9000 at the same time about 3 years ago. Almost never had any problem woth the 820, and only had 1 problem with 9000 during all these times.

Hi all,
I would greatly appreciate any comments or advice you have! Could anyone please confirm if the Panasonic UB9000 is capable of outputting Blu-Ray/DVD 1 or 2 channel Dolby, Dolby-HD, DTS, DTS-HD, LCPM etc audio via the XLR/RCA outputs? I have a C8 77, Sony X800(MR) & B&O soundbar at the moment, its not great for Mono or Stereo, which tends to be the majority of content I watch. I'm therefore looking a better solution. I only watch discs, no streaming/live TV. I'm thinking of replacing the Sony with a UB9000(MR) which will give me the 2 channel out, I would then be looking to purchase an integrated amp (Possibly a tube amp like a Unison Research Simply?) and speakers (Maybe some LS3s or Quad ESLs?) Basically something that will hopefully sound a bit special. My concerns are, am I going to have issues with lip sync? Should I wait and see if Pioneer bring back the lx800? is the player going to somehow down convert the signal before outputting and therefore would be better off with a proper avr/processor? Many thanks in advance! |

So, after my 820 spent time in the shop, uneconomical to even look at yet, repair, said the store … I decided to give it another go at cleaning the lens. This time I used a tiny bit of 70% alcohol, on a qtip, gently cleaned the lens, dried it off with both another clean qtip and a short blast of air (far enough away off course). Put it back together aaaand
It plays my UHDs flawlessly now. Knock on wood this continues. I almost think it loads my discs faster now. I still have my name and a deposit down for a 9000 unit, with the same store. I originally thought: if my player never played UHDs even after more tinkering from me, then I should have a backup plan. I think I’m still committed to the 9000 because I think the disc transport is different, and the build quality will hopefully last me for many years. |

Last night I watched Alligator, the disc arrived new covered in scratches but played flawlessly. To keep the lens clean, I do a quick check for dust under a lamp and wipe the disc with a microfiber cloth before playing. |

I'm not sure what exactly it's on,but I think there was only one 4K upscaling option. The other 1080i/50 Doctor Who discs I have were all playing correctly at "4K/50p".

Is there a button on the remote that gives display info while streaming Netflix?, the status and playback info buttons don't do anything. On my previous Sony player the display button would show the timestamp for the show, internet speed and resolution it's streaming at currently

It was a Series 7 disc, and yeah, it says it is 50i, but is being output at 60. I was playing some Series 9 discs the other day and they were 1080/50i, the same as Series 7, but they were being output correctly at 4K/50p
