Who has the rights to Lawnmower Man? I wonder if they'll do a 30th anniversary 4K this year.

Other notable titles with a 30th anniversary this year:

Death Becomes Her
Raising Cain
Sleepwalkers

Scream Factory was the rights, but Park Circus has full ownership.

Since we're talking about what we want to see this year, in case Warner doesn't do them, all in favor of Scream releasing Poltergeist II and III on 4K/Remastered Blu the same day as the 40th anniversary edition of the first film say "Aye!".

I read rumors the big studio is doing Poltergeist on 4K themselves late this year.

I'd be in for the sequels on 4K even though I've never seen them.

I have to assume every movie they put out with a 4K master will get a UHD release.

Not notable, but Dr. Giggles will be 30 this year too. The current blu is long OOP so would nice to get a new edition with a new transfer.

Not buying the SF blus when I had a chance for Poltergeist 2 and 3 is one of my biggest collection regrets. I know 3 gets a lot of hate but I love it. It is pure 80's horror goodness.

I love finding blind buys, and Scream Factory just keeps them comin for me. Latest bluray I'm picking up is The Resurrected, with Chris Sarandon. I've loved this guy since Jerry Dandridge. Hope it's a worthy addition to the collection.

I thought that one was a little disappointing personally, because I love Chris Sarandon and Dan O'Bannon's other work. But hopefully you may find something enjoyable in it!

My 4K Krampus Collectors Edition arrived today without a Slipcover. First time that happened to me ordering through Amazon.com within the three month window since release. Did this also happen to others? I collect all the SF Collectors Edition with Slips and this is unexpected.

I feel like the sales would be there as it's likely to attract the same kind of attention that The Poughkeepsie tapes attracted upon release. I just picked up the grey market Spanish blu ray release a few moments ago and so that's what got me thinking about it again.
Inside is one of the grimmest films I have ever seen in my entire life. It's a really good, effective film, but I don't know if I could watch it again.

Sucks since I would like to see Mother of Tears on Scream.

Really wish that Cursed wasn't a one off for Dimension/Lionsgate.

It's a great little movie and a modern adaptation of the best Lovecraft story, The case of Charles Dexter Ward (previously adapted by Corman with Vincent Price as the Haunted Palace (also available through Scream factory in one of their Vincent Price collection).
Now you have to remember that The resurrected had a small budget and feels like a made for tv movie, even if it wasn't.
But for such a cheap movie, it has a great cast and some wonderful monster fx which is surprisingly disturbing.
As a Lovecraft fan, this is one of the best adaptation out there and definitely worth owning. I've only seen the cheap full screen dvd so i'm looking forward to revisit it down the line with my Scream blu ray. Love the reversible cover btw (unlike the regular art which is atrocious).

Cursed is a Miramax-era Dimension title. Those titles are coming from Paramount, not Lionsgate.

I've only ever watched it once but that single viewing experience was exactly as you described it. On a whim I decided to purchase the Spanish grey market release this last week off of Amazon and was looking forward to revisiting it as I watched "Incident in a Ghostland" this last weekend and was in the mood for another extreme horror offering and Inside fit that bill. Unbeknownst to me at the time however of order however, the Spanish release is 1080/50p and lacks English subtitles so it's just flawed all across the board. I can actually play the disc on one of my theater set-ups but will have to settle for the dubbed English audio in place of the original French track since the only subtitle options included were for Spanish and Portuguese.

I have serious doubts that this will see a US release any time soon (if ever) given the information zbinks shared earlier and so sadly this may be as good as it gets unless someone puts together a competent fan release.

What's everyone's take on the future of these films? example now we are getting 4k of some films and Kino released 4k of misery and invasion of the body snatchers and ported over all extras.

some of these films are OOP and fetch crazy prices. Will we see a return of these OOP releases with extras ported over?

I think eventually everything will be repressed in some way or another. Maybe not all with the same extras. But look at IOTBS and Without Warning and a few others. Repressed with upgrade and same extras. Then rumor of an Empire Pictures box set too in the fall would have a few other OOP movies in it. Why I will never pay a high price for anything OOP. Then once the popularity of all of this fades and people sell of collections prices will get back to a normal level.

Case by case basis. Every home video format has titles that haven't been re-released again, for any number of reasons, and likely won't be. Extras are even more of a crapshoot.

Keep in mind that we live in a world where:
  • Madman has been released on UHD and has had two 4K masters created since 2015.
  • The Keep hasn't had a domestic release since VHS / Laserdisc era and isn't available, anywhere, beyond SD.
  • Nightmare on Elm Street and The Exorcist aren't available in 4K and seemingly haven't been remastered, in over a decade.
  • Dawn of the Dead is available on UHD, but only as an import; it hasn't been in-print, domestically, in over a decade.

The fact patterns in each scenario are totally different, but it's batshit crazy, nonetheless.

It's looking like SDCC will be at full swing this year, so I wonder if Shout will have a panel. I'm not going to lie, but I've missed those presentations and would love to get a bit of info of upcoming titles. I remember this forum would go nuts when all those titles would be revealed, and would love to see that happen again.

While investigating a series of mysterious deaths in the sewers of Chicago, a cynical police officer, played by Robert Forster, comes face to face with the culprit, an alligator that has grown to massive size by feeding on animal carcasses from a growth hormone laboratory experiment. With the help of a herpetologist, played by Robin Riker, our hero races to save the city from the 36-foot reptile, but he may be too late. Years after being flushed down a toilet as a baby pet, this angry alligator, no longer willing to settle for underground meals, bursts through concrete to emerge onto the streets, leaving a trail of corpses in its wake as it makes its way to an upscale wedding party at the mayor's mansion, where a sumptuous buffet awaits.

The 1980 when-animals-attack horror feature, Alligator, was one of my favorite movies during my childhood, thanks to its multiple airings on primetime television during the early part of that decade. Screenwriter John Sayles and director Lewis Teague intended for this endeavor to be a take-off on Steven Spielberg's Jaws that centered on the popular urban legends of sewer alligators. The end result, however, struck a meaningful chord with audiences who were eager to see the titular monster stick it to The Man by going nom nom nom on the wealthy and corrupt officials who take shortcuts with laboratory ethics and environmental protection.

I love how Alligator wastes no time getting into the carnage with its fast-paced narrative. This tale does not even spare children, as evidenced by a memorable scene where the creature eats a boy who is pushed into a swimming pool.

Forster, who also starred in another of my childhood favorites, Avalanche, is excellently cast as the world-weary cop. An early shot that references the 1968 Democratic National Convention is an homage to Forster's role in the iconic drama, Medium Cool. Riker, who guested on multiple television shows during that era, is great as a resourceful heroine. Henry Silva (Sharky's Machine) appears as a famed big game hunter who finds out the hard way that the alligator is more intelligent than people. Be on the lookout for Sue Lyon (Lolita), in her final screen role, and for B movie extraordinaire Angel Tompkins (The Teacher) as news reporters.

The alligator itself, brought to life by an ingenious mix of practical effects and miniature work, earns our respect and even empathy simply by roaming around the city doing normal alligator stuff in order to sort out its abandonment issues after being flushed into the sewer.

Astute viewers will notice a nod to the 1949 film noir, The Third Man, during the final moments.

I am giving this one five stars for nostalgia and for alligator mayhem.

This Scream Factory 4K UHD presentation is not swampy in the slightest, giving us a beautifully filmic main feature with plenty of extras.
