Thanks for trying on that one, Bob. Maybe they will change their mind one day after sorting through their plethora of offers. That would be the Spanish, El Lago de los Cisnes/Swan Lake?

I love the representation of all genres in Golden Age 3D. I get tired of only seeing 75% 3D super hero movies now. Genre films are great, and the 50's had some classic adventures that would've been amazing, but 3D is so much more than horror, sci-fi, animation, and super heroes.
Bingo. Can’t relate to anyone who says differently.

Bootlegs. And ugly looking ones based on the sources.

Any progress with Mercury Films on La marca del hombre lobo or Con la muerte a la espalda? If you can't say anything, I understand.

Any responses from the Korean Film Archive on their Silver Age holdings or the Italians or Minerva Pictures on Cavalleria rusticana?

I was really hoping KOFA would be open to collaborating since they are familiar with doing English-friendly, limited-release vintage Blu-ray restorations on a scant budget.

No, I’ve pretty much given up on trying to secure any international titles for licensing and/or restoration.

Our plate is much too full now with titles that have been secured!

Well then maybe the rights holders to La marca del hombre lobo (aka Frankenstein's Bloody Terror) and Con la muerte a la espalda (aka Electra One) might reflect on the reality that they'll go to their graves failing to monetize a plug nickel out of their assets... and on the old saying "Pigs get slaughtered"....

Anyway, totally stoked for what's already been announced for 2022 and what may be coming down the Golden/Silver-Age 3D pike....

Thanks, Bob (and 3DFA) for all your efforts.

Bob,
So glad you get to work your magic on this film. Hopefully you can convince Kino to license and let your restore Bwana Devil. It would be amazing to get the 1st Golden Age 3D title out and restored. I would also love for you guys to restore the existing reels of Southwest Passage. I think both of those would do well and look amazing.

Is there any luck or chance that you will get to work on any of the other Wade Williams Golden age titles such as Hannah Lee or Cat Women?

Finally,
I know this is only for Golden Age, but is there any chance that you will get to restore any of the Earl Owensby 3d titles? I know Severin has a deal for some of their titles. I'm praying that if they managed to get any of the 3D titles that they contacted you. I'd hate for them to do it themselves or not know and release them flat.

That's the Golden Goose. We all want to see John Alton's work in stereo 3D.

From Robert Furmanek a year ago:

Other titles (The Glass Web, Nat King Cole with Russ Morgan's Orchestra, Hawaiian Nights, I the Jury, La Marca del Hombre Lobo aka Frankenstein's Bloody Terror) are tied up with complex legal issues and the miles of red tape have prevented any positive movement. After trying to obtain rights for the past decade, I have no reason to be optimistic these films will ever get cleared for 3-D Blu-ray release. I wish I could say otherwise.

I'm looking forward to owning this. I remember it being a pretty interesting thriller. Out of curiosity, got any Golden Age Kickstarters planned for this year?

One golden age title I rarely hear mentioned is The French Line (1953) starring Jane Russell, who already looks 3D. Talk about pop outs...(rimshot)

There are true 3-D clips on youtube taken from a field-sequential copy that was created many years ago. Standard def, with many film-print and analog video artefacts; a poor reflection of how good it would look if a 3-D master were created today. At one point the whole film was on youtube like this, and so I was able to watch it on my LG 3dtv.

I found it a bit odd, and among unreleased WB 3-D titles, it wouldn't be top of my list, but individual sequences were quite good.

Just a few days ago I watched her subsequent feature Underwater!, which apparently had been planned for 3D. A most regrettable decision to go flat. That would've been tremendous fun.

I was just musing on the Columbia 3D releases. We know Kino will likely reissue the four Twilight Time put out, which will be nice. I'll buy them all again most likely, if only to show support. But then I got to thinking of the unreleased five from the 50s. It occurs to me that of them, I would most want to see Drums of Tahiti again. It's not a really good movie, but it is goofy fun. Especially when Dennis O'Keefe walks fairly nonchalantly in front of the rear screen projection lava.

Besides it has Patricia Medina in it, and Patricia Medina in 3D is always a pleasant sight.

I think André De Toth's Stranger Wore a Gun is the prize of the remaining Columbia pictures. I hope Kino is allowed to sneak in some new 3D restorations after establishing good graces with Sony. Maybe its my tinted glasses, but acquiring new 3D titles seems to be one of the bigger motivations in the various short-term deals that they establish with major studios.

The Stranger Wore a Gun is definitely a good one. It probably has the best cast of the remaining Columbia films and a wild number of 3D effects.

Honestly, the only one of the remaining Columbia's I don't care for is The Nebraskan, and I'd even buy that one!

I want "Fort Ti". Unfortunately, it's one of the remaining Columbia's that's least likely as it's now considered 'Politically Incorrect'. Saw it in dual strip in the theater and really liked it.

But my "Holy Grail" has to be RKO's "Second Chance". Robert Mitchum and Jack Palance? WOW!!
