Default Apocalypto PQ

I'm one hour into the movie, and I can't believe the reviewer (Greg Maltz) gave this "only" a 4,5/5. This is true reference quality, so I can't believe he gave such a low rating. I usually love his reviews, but boy, did he miss the mark on this one.

4.5/5 is hardly a low rating. LOL.

Anything he rates above a 4 is usually pretty respectable.

Did you read the rest of his review? He was biased from the beginning. Just take a look at the member reviews. Only a couple of people (out of four pages) didn't like the movie and the PQ was always rated 4.5 to 5 "B's".

4.5 is great.

Besides.... You should look for the detail in the resolution.... The color is obviously fantastic, but perhaps the resolution isn't "perfect" I haven't given it that much thought.... but perhaps this is the issue (as if a 4.5/5 is stating there is an "issue" )

To me, it's NOT perfect. There are a few "handicam" style shots where they used different cameras, and the grain in those shots is very apparent. I'm not against grain by any means but the difference in clarity in those shots versus the rest of the film is a little jarring. I personally don't disagree with a rating of 4.5- I think it has amazing PQ that's slightly marred in a couple of scenes.

4.5/5 = 9 out of 10. 90 on a test. A.

He gave TDK a 5/5 while it was riddled with excessive EE.

Obviously the reviews here on blu-ray even though good should not be taken too seriously, and should definitely not be the final word on deciding on a purchase.

So, if that's the case, I'd give the BD 5.5 out of 5 for accurately reproducing EXACTLY how it was captured by the camera. It's not a fault of Blu-ray encoding. It's a fault of the capture medium. The BD encode 100% accurately reproduced what Mel Gibson saw in the editing room. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, however, and if you want to take off a half of a "B" because the director/cinematographer decided to use a different capture method for specific scenes, then be my guest.

don't like it? PM a reviewer...don't start an entire thread just to publicly complain about it...if someone is concerned or annoyed with a score, PM the reviewer and discuss it with them privately. JJ's right: these threads are really getting tiring. each movie is in the eye of the beholder. not everyone will agree with their various ratings and that's that

People don't seem to have a grasp of "opinion" on the internet anymore, honestly. Everyday it's more of the same, especially on the USA Releases and the Movie Discussion forums. One attacking another for not liking what they like, and getting into it for hours, when at the end, they're back to where they started. Always debating some minor issue or another. To quote Grand Moff Tarkin:

"All this bickering is pointless."

Oh, CK, hey, the 80s called, they want their retort back.

Seriously. You'll find that there is more positive support than negative. There's always a few people who will complain about anything. You and Martin I hold in the highest regard.

God I love threads about complaints of reviews.

Lighten up!

Do you seriously expect EVERYONE to have the same opinion as you?? People see things differently...that's life. 4.5 instead of 5?? really? thats an issue??
