I think it's unpopular to say that Escape is my least favorite of the five. I think it's a complete mess. Battle isn't good or anything, it's kind of pathetic, really, but it's not the worst. The other three balance out surprisingly well, though. The second half of Beneath is some of my favorite stuff of the whole series (the first half is a rote retelling of the first film with a new, Heston-like character). Conquest is some of the best of nihilistic 70s scifi that I have a soft spot for (the original ending is the way to go there). And the first has a surprising amount of depth to it that I really enjoy taking it well beyond, "this became famous because of the twist" territory. |

My only real problem with it is the opening. It's cut too fast with too much of a data dump driving everything. It takes like fifteen minutes to settle down and actually feel like its telling a story.
After that, it's great, but that first fifteen minutes is weird. |

The Uncut Conquest is so good I cant watch the original anymore.
I dont see a reason for the theatrical to exist unless its to show how studios will make edits for social reasons....(which in kinda sympathize)....but not really. |

![]() - Ingmar Bergman is not that great of a director. - The original Robocop is not THAT great of a movie. It's certainly good, but it's not as GOOD as everyone claims it to be. - Most horror movies are really not amazing and the horror genre can be one of the worst genres at times. - Spider-Man 3 is up there as one of the best comic book movies made in the last 15 years. Perhaps even top 3. - Francis Ford Coppola can be a terrific director, but he also can be very overrated. His work is spotty as well. - Robert Downey Jr. is not that great of an actor and does not deserve all the accolades or money he has earned. - Sean Penn is annoying and overrated. - Madonna is a good actress. - Dick Tracy is one of the all-time best comic book movies and the best movie of 1990. - Body of Evidence IS a good movie. - Nolan actually ruined Batman in the movies AND the comics. - I actually like and have thought about buying the movie Steel. - Ridley Scott hasn't done a good movie in 14-15 years. - Blade Runner is not ALL that and a bag of chips. It's good for what it is, but it is not some sort of misunderstood masterpiece. - 2001: A Space Odyssey is way overrated. A really good movie, but it isn't a classic like some like to believe. - Stanley Kubrick is not an all-time great director. He is really good though. - Xanadu IS a good film. - Daredevil isn't the worst movie made. - I sat through Elektra and actually liked it. - Out of Africa didn't deserve all the accolades it got and it is sort of boring. - The Pelican Brief is a better movie than Schindler's list. - The Fugitive is a better movie than Schindler's list. - Pulp Fiction isn't that good and is not even the best movie of that year. - Quentin Tarantino is highly overrated. - David Fincher is also highly overrated. That's it for now. ![]() |

Why did I ask? A LOT of bad ones there. Pretty every single one is wrong. No need to look at the facets or faucets.
But you messed up. Quote:

I thought it was unpopular.
Hey! I like Blade Runner and I own it. However, it is not the great masterpiece people make it out to be. It's just a good film. Not great. |

Not to undercut the Doctor, but here's where I take one back:
I was wrong when I said Lady from Shanghai is Welles' best movie. Nope. Kane and Ambersons are God-tier. You really could learn everything you need to know about filmmaking from those two movies. Shanghai is still great and it's surface pleasures--scenic locations, beautiful women, that godmackingly great finale--still excite but it's clearly not on the same level technically. Wish my revisit of The Stranger went better. Now that's Orson Welles just phoning it in. |

Hey, this is the unpopular movie opinion thread. On any given day and on Sunday I would have most people beat. I just follow a different path than you average movie buff. I'm the same way with music. Always have been. Dude, it wouldn't be fair. I'm already nuts. I have more issues than the New Yorker and Britney Spears combined. |

Xanadu is great but in a so bad its good, Cult way. I own the VHS, DVD, and BD.
The rest of your list just seems like surface haterade for popular projects/artists with no critical back-up. The lists are entertaining but I find your weak critiques more entertaining. |

I watched BATMAN BEGINS again last night. Thought it was as good as I remembered it. Still don't understand all the Nolan hate/bashing on this forum. :
