personally i think its going to be more of a niche thing. How many people will honestly buy more speakers to place awkwardly in the front of their room? The idea is cool, but it never really took off with Yamaha either...

It's nice if you already have the speakers, but I agree if you have to buy more it won't be very popular. I do think when its the standard, watch how many people run out and get it.

I was never too crazy about the front Yamaha effect speakers, even on the flagship models that I've owned. IMO they tend to drown out the sound field and reduce detail/clarity.

I sent an email to Emo asking them, since it's as done deal with the UMC-1 shipping out this month, why not go ahead and post the manual pdf on the site so we can do some "get to know you" action ahead of time. That way we'll all have a better idea of what is what. I'm waiting their reply and keeping watch on the website. In their webcast they state that they are going to change the page for the UMC-1 to reflect it's shipping this month and they will change the pictures and other info. I also asked in a seperate email if they would confirm the DSD codec for SACD playback was available in the unit. the last time i emailed them about it i was told that they were awaiting a licensing agreement and then if all went well, it would be a done deal. still awaiting a response on that too.

Wow, I find that strange, to say the unit is ready for shipping later this month and not already have the manual complete. Oh well, I'm still hopefull that they will get the manual posted on the site while we wait for the units to ship.

Did someone at Emo tell you that or is that your opinion?

One thing I have learned about bigred7078 from various forums is he is almost always right. I'll take his word for it since I know he is very active in the EMO forums. I doubt he would state such a thing without some kind of PM from Dan G or phone call to EMO.

This is just my $.02

Except for this, but he followed through and got the answer. Happycamper, nobody is right all the time, that's what makes us human.

I was told this. But it's not unusual for Emotiva as the manuals are usually never released that far in advance. If anything they are known for having manual mistakes (comes with owning your own chinese factory), so they are taking a little bit more care with this manual than previous models.

So guys and gals if anyone is in the midwest area and wants to be able to demo some Emotiva gear there will be a big GTG in St. Louis on the weekend of july 25th. Dann G. will be bringing the Emotiva van full of gear. There will also be various other speakers and electronics present.

It will be a blast for all those that wish to join

PM me for details if your interested

-Steve

it wasn't so much a challange, i just wondered how he found that out because it's not posted on their site that the manual isn't done and his reply was simply "the manual is not finished yet" I hope this won't turn into anything; i just asked a question.

Well originally a buddy of mine from the emotivalounge (jlafrenz), were going to host a GTG in Columbia, Mo but realized neither of us really have the space. Well if you know Mac11700 from any of the forums (mainly av123 and emotivalougne) well he has hosted a few GTG's and is willing to host another one. It will be catered FYI.

We are in the process now of rounding up individuals to come. Dann G. has commited to coming with the Emotiva van full of goodies. Lots of people also plan on brining their own gear. Mac is trying to see if some local hi-fi stores will be willing to temporarily donate some gear.

But it should be a hell of a time.

I'll keep ya updated, but clear your calender for the weekend of July 25th
