Honestly not looking forward to getting this with all these reports of scratched discs. I've had to exchange the past 6 or 7 SF releases I've bought because the discs were absolutely MANGLED. Like some of the worst scratches I've ever seen. Like someone scraped the disc across a concrete floor. I mean who knows, maybe that's what's happening to them at the replication plant. Criterion has been bad lately as well, but SF takes the cake on this one.

Should be arriving Tuesday. Besides this and Alligator, I haven't ordered any of SF's stuff since the Halloween releases and I've had no scratched new discs. Hopefully this one comes pristine, we'll see what happens.

Let me be a Talon in the world of Cromwells. There’s nary a scratch on either of my discs. All I see is this handsome MF looking back at me.

Shipped! Hope it doesn't look like a 3 bladed sword was dragged across the discs.

Same. I haven't watched this film since 1983 (Betamax).

The conspiracy theorist in me says that when these things happen it is because somebody got a good deal on B stock discs from the replicator.

Multiple retailers though? I've had this happen from like 3 different places.

Some of you guys keep forgetting ( or just don't know) that, Blu-rays and 4K UHD discs have a protective layer coating on them, unlike DVDs. If the scratches are not deep enough beneath the coating, it will not affect the playability of the disc.

We're not forgetting anything. Considering what SF is charging for these UHDs, we should NOT be receiving scratched, aka DAMAGED product. That is precisely the point.

You know what??? If Shout Factory, or any other distributor did ship pristine condition discs, you all would still find something to b*tch and complain about, so it really doesn't matter because, they are going to look in every nook and cranny under a microscopic, trying to find something else wrong with it. I don't know why in the f*ck they even buy movies in the the first place because, all they're going to is find fault in them. The problem is not the movies, it's their uncontrollable OCD and anal retentiveness. They don't need to buy movies period; they need to go and seek professional help for their mental condition.

I bought a brand new disc and it's scratched--wanting a replacement isn't crazy town. It affects reselling the disc as well.

No, in this scenario it would be SF is buying B stock from the replicators to make their discs.

BTW, here's mine I thought I had escaped unscathed until the very last twist of the disc under light.

You're the one who seems to need help, with your anger issues.

It's thanks to people not bending over to the companies, that we get these things fixed, since the labels don't seem to have any QC anymore.
Look what happened to House at the Edge of the Park.
After the criticism, they fixed replacements.

Just because YOU are satisfied with shitty releases and manufacturing flaws, doesn't mean the rest of us are.

Sorry to hear many of you are receiving scratched discs (mine arrives tomorrow as I ordered from Amazon).

I've lost some faith in SF over the years to be honest. If the disc plays fine (even with some light surface scratches) that's OK with me, however it is completely understandable that at the premium we are paying for these "boutique" releases, that we expect (and receive) a product of a high quality of standard.

We are a very small minority supporting labels like SF in comparison to the massive amount of folks that are either fine with buying DVDs at Wally World, or not buying any physical media at all.

It's in both parties best interest to both expect and deliver a product of a high quality.

4K discs don't have the same coating that Blu-ray has though. So yes, brand new discs coming pre-scratched is definitely something to worry about.

My store sends back stuff all the time and they are usually bent steelbooks and 4K discs with issues. Hardly any regular BDs get exchanged.

Yep. My Frankenstein 4K has a severe scratch/scuff. The film will play up to a point.

This scratched disc issue really needs to stop. I'm only running into this with Scream Factory, so something's just not right. I'm about ready to cancel my remaining pre-orders, and for me to drop EFNY? You know it's gotta be serious.

* 1 hour later* I cancelled EFNY. It's pathetic (on multiple levels) that exchanges with Amazon are so much easier. Who knows how long that will continue for, but the bottom line? I really hope Shout! Factory can get this under control, because I'm feeling like a rat jumping off the Titanic, here.

My copy came in this afternoon. No scratches thankfully. Disc played fine and it looks great. It's a very grainy film, the hdr is well done. This was a blind buy and I had a lot of fun with it. I won't lie though, wish he would have used the 3 bladed sword more than he did.
