Double Dragon cartoon is a surprise since MVD put out the DVD in 2019. Surrreee love that retro NES/Genesis like cover as they did the Sonic one. Back also mentions Invincible Entertainment and not Wildbrain (who reportedly don't license out anymore unless it's a TV/streaming package), which means it's another DIC property that was sold to Invincible like with Sonic and Street Sharks.

I'm glad that the Digimon dub is being release on Blu-ray. Unlike DBZ, I do enjoy the Digimon dub for nostalgia reasons.

The Project A-Ko sequels are new 2k scans from elements discovered in that same vault as the first. Not surprising these were coming but will sure look better than those nasty videotape masters. Still exciting nonetheless.

Wait all the sequels awesome the only downside is the dubs of the sequels always have new voices for the main characters.

Robots in Disguise to Cybertron were digipaint and finished in SD. Hasbro owns distribution rights to the English dubbed versions (which were edited to a degree and sport animation changes/fixes) and have them exclusively licensed to Shout in the US and I believe Manga in the UK. Hasbro are reportedly blocking circulation of Japanese RID to Cybertron due to concerns in character nomenclature (some Autobot/Decpticon names are completely different from the JP ones) and "inappropriate" content (things like characters drinking booze, humans having realistic looking guns, some bathing/sauna scenes, and in the JP version of Cybertron t

Not only that, but they're difficult to work with as they forced Shout to Americanize the sub tracks for the 80s Takara Transformers series and couldn't include the (laughably terrible) Omni Productions dubs due to character nomenclature and cuss words (the Masterforce dub had a huge flub where the kid piloting the Fire Truck Autobot was suppose to say "why you!" after being toppled over, but sounds like he saying "**** you!")



The Canadian dub is drastically altered and censored (like One Piece) and was done without Tezuka's approval (the more common US dub was produced at a Wisconsin University and overseen by Tezuka and Nippon TV, and it was almost completely uncut save for combining the first two episodes). The master elements for the Canadian are long gone due owners of the dubbing studio throwing out things they didn't see fit. Even if the Canadian dub elements did survive or more fan recordings were unearthed, Tezuka Productions still wouldn't allow it's inclusion due to the changes it didn't approve of.

The main dub actor for Astro for the Canadian dub has all the episodes, but yes the original owners probably don't want it out.

Digimon was fun as a kid but didn't age well to me.

I literally put Digimon volume 3 into my cart and was about to pull the trigger 2 days ago lmao. I guess Ill just wait for discotek. I might have to buy the english and japanese version of this it way to high on my wish list.

Hollyyyy shiittttt! Never thought they'd get the original Digimon series! That was thought to be still under licence to Shout/Cinedigim, but looks like their rights expired and only kept the recent stuff.

The first 5 or 6 Digimon series were SD digipaint and I don't think it was until the 2005 series that it jumped to HD. The JP movies were filmouts and have HD masters, but I think the English dubs were edited and done in SD. I imagine the first US Digimon movie (which is actually 2 Jump Festival short films and the first actual JP Digimon movie edited into one) will be very tricky. It produced by Fox and finished on film, but the other obstacle aside from working with the House of Mouse in obtaining it's IP or OCN, is weather the Angela Anaconda short (that was attached to the beginning of the movie) will be included or not. The Angela Anaconda series has big legal issues over using the faces of actual yearbook students and facility as the characters and is the reason that series hasn't seen the light of day in over 20 something years.
