Super excited for Digimon. I've watched the Japanese version probably more times than the dub, but I'll probably get both versions. The existing blu-ray was too blurry got me.

Description lists the Japanese version and I think the US version from a SD VHS master? I heard it was available very briefly, but got pulled when it was discovered MGM still had US distribution rights after Toei thought they had them. I believe Discotek/Eastern Star tried later getting it from MGM, but they refused to work with them and already had it under license to Shout Factory (who released the US version on DVD and BD but both are now OOP). That doesn't bode well for asking MGM again.

It was distributed by Fox, then went to Saban and later under Disney ownership (ironically, as part of the Fox Kids/Saban sale) until their distribution rights expired in 2007, and lastly went to Toei when their US branch fully acquired the Digimon name/trademarks and got the older series back as the result.

Digimon has alot more than just 4 seasons actually. Sadly only Seasons 1-5 were completely released in the US. Season 6 was partially released and we're still waiting on Season 7. Season 8 is still airing new episodes in Japan so that gets a pass.

I know but I never watched data squad so I dont have an opinion on it and I dropped fusion after a few episodes multiple times.


If we can get adventure tamers and frontier ill be happy. I'm sure viz or crunchymation will get adventure 2020 especaially since the things already getting a dub.

With Digimon Fusion I blame having it being put on Nicktoons. It was on Nickelodeon but it was then moved to Nicktoons and that probably wasn’t the wisest choice. CW’s Vortexx block’s death to have it be replaced with Saturday morning Educational shows was also not that great for the series.

That's fair/valid! I kept watching past Frontier until the end of Xros Wars/Young Hunters. Started to watch the Tri films but got distracted and stopped.

Still a big Digimon fan though, and plan to catch up on the franchise one day...

Yeah okay. Even so, music licensing is a ***** to deal with so chances of that dub are low. The subbed versions should make it out fine.

The Digimon announcement definitely caught me by surprise, especially for the sub. I'd actually be willing to double-dip on these since the Cinedigm DVDs are known to be missing several recaps as well as missing lines from Episode 9 (Subzero Ice Punch!). And this might be wishful thinking, but it would be pretty cool if Discotek could secure the Animax dub to include in the sub release. It was done with Cardcaptor Sakura from NIS America, so it's not impossible.

Some things of interest but never as good as I had imagined but that is normal for every announcement for future releases from any company.

Wow, way more announcements than I expected last night!

I doubt I'll be upgrading 'Cyber City Oedo 808'. Next time I watch my copy, I'll be more critical. I remember thinking that it could've looked better, but that its AV didn't call attention to itself in terms of how bad it was. And I don't care about packaging, so putting something in a steelbook doesn't make any difference to me.

'Violence Jack' is one of those series that has been on my radar forever. Even though I love 'Fist of the North Star' (currently rewatching the series), what I keep hearing is that 'Violence Jack' just crosses the line from being funny overthetop to just too grizzly and gross. I might check it out, but I won't be surprised if I feel the same way.

'Darkstalkers' intrigues me a bit. I like 'Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie', but found the 'Fatal Fury' OVA's kinda dull.

Really excited for A-Ko 2 in the announcement, it's my favorite of the 4 because of how plain absurd it is.

The rest of the stuff doesn't really do much for me.
