if i remember right, the theatricals came out in like May or so and the extended versions came out a couple of weeks before the next movie was released in the theaters.

so FOTR extended came out in Nov. or so and TTT came out in the theater in Dec.

then the two towers and return of the kind followed suit.

that was a great 3 years, catching the movies in December and then getting both the theatrical version and then the extended version...then before you knew it, BAM!!! another movie comes along to slap u in the face and the whole cycle started over!!!

unless they release more extras on the extended versions, i'll be keeping my dvd copies and just buy the theatrical versions on blu.

Noo! I don't want to wait for 2012 but I guess I'll have to. I never saw the movies until 2008 so I can wait a little bit longer. I am definitely not getting the Theatrical Versions. Oh well. Somehow... life goes on.

It's the One Ring whispering in ur ear. "Buy the theatrical release. The extended versions wont be out for years." U have to be steadfast. Remember, they will announce the extended editions the day after u buy this.

I'm pretty sure Jackson was trying to throw a little humor into the story to lighten it up - in my opinion it worked. Obviously, pipeweed is not marijuana, as can be discerned from reading "Concerning Pipeweed" in the Prologue, where it is identified as a variant of Nicotiana.

Jackson just made a small change in the film(s) versus the book. He decided to make it some sort of herb that has a little more kick than tobacco. There's nothing wrong with making a minor change like that.

It would be great if LOTR came equipped with a DTS HD-MA track. The battle of Helm's Deep should sound stunning!
