Samsung QN85

I've been looking for a new set for a while now, and I think I've landed on the Samsung QN85. Of all the ones at the store, it just looked the best to me (for the price). I bought a refurbished one this weekend, and it had a great picture, but unfortunately also had an issue with white light blooming in two of the lower panels so I returned it.

Should I try for a brand new one, or is there a better TV around that price range ($1,000) that I should go for? Are there any QN85 owners that can share their experiences?

The QN85A uses an IPS panel, so it sacrifices contrast for wider viewing angles. In general VA panels are better for TVs. If you want a set from Samsung I think the only one worth getting from this year's lineup is the QN95A which is pricier. For $1100 you can get a Sony X90J which is a decent midrange TV. You shouldn't pick a TV based on how it looks in a store since the picture settings are set to make the image pop and not to make it look accurate.
