I ordered 17 titles this week. Companies really need to spread out their sales so I don't go broke.

Curse this world of good deals!

I could have saved so much more if I didn't run out of money !

It's fun. Esp when you get new UHD BD for under $10 ... it's crazy good.

The last part of the largish order that I placed on the 19th arrived today. I'm still cataloging my new toys. It's hard work, but someone's gotta do it.

Not really a Trek fan but will be very interested in the September UHD BD release of Star Trek: The Motion Picture – The Director’s Edition with a new Atmos mix.

Have added new devices or waiting to add devices to the equipment equipment racks so I've been making wire labels to replace old labels and add new ones. Almost finished, done 79 so far.

I have an update about myself that I would like to share. I am putting it behind spoilers so that those who are not interested can easily skip over my post.

[Show spoiler]I saw my cardiologist today to discuss the testing that I had done back on March 8th. I have an entirely new diagnosis and prognosis.

My heart has recovered! I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy saying that! My left ventricle ejection fraction is completely normal at 60-65%. It was just 40-45% last summer.

My diagnosis has been changed to: Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy, also known as "stress induced cardiomyopathy", which is more commonly called "broken heart syndrome." It is rare in men; only about 10% of patients are male. Recurrences are also rare.

"Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is a weakening of the left ventricle, the heart's main pumping chamber, usually as the result of severe emotional or physical stress, such as a sudden illness, the loss of a loved one, a serious accident, or a natural disaster..."

https://www.health.harvard.edu/heart...heart-syndrome

Most patients have pretty quick recoveries, but my other health problems delayed mine.

This means that I do not have congestive heart failure as I was formerly diagnosed. It means that my prognosis is no longer "about 5 years." I'm now free of this grim prediction!

My doctor says that I still have not recovered from my abdominal surgeries. I still weigh too little and I can't seem to gain any of it back. I still have to take my heart and blood pressure medications. I still have plenty of physical therapy to do. I still have a low sodium diet and I am supposed to try to consume 3000 calories a day, which can only mean one thing:

Eat more pizza!

Thank you all for letting me share my good news here and for all of the get well wishes that you have expressed to me over these long nine months. It looks like physical media and I both still have a future together; is that enough to make my post sorta on topic?

I'm so happy for you. I may try to see a Dr soon as I've way overdue for a checkup. Last time I tried though they said it was all overbooked which I believe. Things are tough all over.

I kinda forgot about it as it was a rental back in the day which I really liked, but never bought on any format. I am working through the Craig Bond movies getting ready for No Time to Die, and realized how much I liked Skyfall, then worked backwards through Sam Mendes films. When I saw he did Perdition, it was a no brainer. Technical merits of the disc are supposed to be outstanding.

That is outstanding news! Did the Dr also tell you to buy a new subwoofer as it will also aid in your recovery?

My Godfather 4K set (and additional titles) arrived today from Deep Discount. That will be some weekend viewing. I watched the first episode of Halo this morning on Paramount+ in 4K DV/5.1. I had totally forgotten that my AVR does DTS Neural:X, which amped it up a bit since there's no Atmos. I enjoyed the first episode, too.

I'm also off from work for a week and half starting tomorrow night, so will definitely be catching up on my media.

That’s what I do, can’t beat a week off work to catch up on stuff. At the moment I just have the one movie night a week but I have stacks of discs I haven’t watched yet. Always a pleasure to work through them.
Hopefully, I will be able to stretch to a couple of nights soon, circumstances permitting.

I ordered one of the 1st 4 (NTSC) DVDs [Animation Greats] from a record store in TX (IIRC) after they posted their phone number in a Usenet post (my area wasn't in the initial DVD rollout).

Later in 1997, I took this disc to a Montgomery Ward store and played it, my 1st DVD player was a DIVX closeout RCA purchased from Circuit City 1999-09-01 for $200.

(note: DVD was not the first digital audio/video disc - I purchased a [Philips CD-i Digital Video] disc in 1993-11, I got to watch part of it in a Dillards store electronics dept in 1994 since they had a Philips CD-i player w/FMV cartridge)

I remember DVD like it was yesterday. I got into laserdisc (it was some display store model that I bought used and you had to flip sides) when I first entered the workforce in 1996. I segued to Pioneer LD/DVD Combo Player (the 700 model) then upgraded it to the 919 model. Once LD went away, it was full DVD ahead. After DVD I went purple for BD/HD-DVD and now 4K disc. I still own some DVDs and they come in handy since I can get them easily from my local library.

That article brought back some nice memories.
