I don't remember if I looked at 60p on the Sony or not. To check the Sony and Panasonic, I have to burn a scaled down BD-R since neither player can play from a HDD.

As soon as the two big discs are authored, I can provide a better timeline. The last disc, which just has montages and HDR skin tones should be a quick one to do.

We put disc 1 on hold due to Scenarist not being able to save the project after adding so many assets. We believe that was fixed in a recent update to the authoring software. Disc 1 will be re-started for the 4th time shortly and then disc 3.
While it was on hold, David authored disc 2. Testing the disc this weekend. Also waiting on feedback from others on the audio (Atmos and DTS:X) testing since we can't test either of those ourselves. |

Some folks have done a video doing some test of media players. Some of the test used patterns from Spears & Munsil. Thought some of you may find it interesting.

We are looking for a few people to test the audio test tones on the new disc.
We need someone with 9 main channels in Atmos. We need someone with 5 channels. The surrounds in a 5.1 are different than 7/9.1 layout, so we need to test both. We need someone with a .2, .4 and .6. The .2 is like 5.1 where they are different than 4 or 6 channels downmixed to .2. We need someone who has Atmos and DTS:X. DTS created 9.1.6 for us, which is not part of a normal DTS:X. You will need an OPPO and a USB drive with at least 100 GB of free space. And finally, you will need a paid Dropbox account. In order to download the disc, you need to use the desktop app due to number of files and size. Unfortunately you can't simply download from the browser. Dropbox will attempt to zip up 60 GBs and fail. The account is ~$100 per year. (Don't recall what I paid last time) We don't have Atmos or DTS:X ourselves, so we can't test these out. I have a 9.1.4, dtsx, Atmos, Panasonic ub820, and 250gb usb. Only problem, I don't have Dropbox(maybe they have a free trial??). If you can somehow upload the file somewhere for me to download and test, I'm definitely willing to test it and report back. Dropbox has the following that my be a possible solution called, "Premium file transfer tool" "Dropbox Transfer is a great way to share large files that you don’t need to collaborate on or don’t want recipients to edit. You can send any file stored in your Dropbox account—or you can skip adding files or checking that you have enough space. Your recipient doesn’t need an account to receive the files you’ve transferred. And, you can confirm delivery with notifications and see exactly how many times a file is downloaded." "Dropbox Professional and Business Advanced: Transfer files or collections of files up to 100 GB Creative Tools Add-On: Combine with Dropbox Business Standard, Advanced, Enterprise, or Education account for file transfers up to 250 GB" Last edited by panasonicst60; 03-13-2022 at 09:09 PM. |

Hey Mr. Spears, I've been meaning to ask you about 5:5 pulldown for HDR blu ray content and whether or not its a proper solution for motion. Is it possible the 5 frames added may be a hinderence, when it comes to motion resolution? Even static scenes seem to have pixels take a little while longer to display at full resolution.

LG owns the patents around Plasma and could use the same technique as plasma if they wished in place of sample-and-hold or so I have been told. |

If I disable the feature on my display, there does appear to be an up tick in overall detail(static/motion). When I increase Reduce Judder to 5 while displaying the Stock Ticker on the UHD HDR Benchmark disc, the top scrolling pattern goes from having a ghosting affect to a stable smooth motion. The difference in image quality jumped significantly. |

Also, one of the other members in the LG OLED Thread has also used the Stock Ticker Test Pattern (Not sure if it's from the UHD Benchmark or the regular HD Benchmark 2nd Edition), but he has said that when 5:5 or Real Cinema is turned "On" he can tell based off of him recording on his iPhone at 240 fps slow motion and played back at 30 Hz, that the frames are playing at 24 fps vs. when the function is "Off." He notices a judder or a 3:2 pulldown. Now, we both have LG C9s. From what I have heard, LG didn't do a great job with motion until the CX or even C1. That's from what I have heard of course. Don't get me wrong, I love my C9!! But the Real Cinema function is something I am not a fan of. I know stutter is more evident when it is "On" and I know stutter is part of 24 fps content but for a C9 user, there is no way to remove the stutter without introducing SOE. Now for C1 users, you have Cinematic Movement which is almost 100% perfect, minus some SOE in fast scenes according to what I have heard at least.
