Default The Legend of Sarila 3D

I was intrigued by this one, so I ordered it not expecting too much based on some online reviews I read but was pleasantly surprised how it grabbed my attention. I liked the story, the characters and the animation style. The 3D ranges from mild-to-moderate-to-somewhat strong in some scenes especially toward the latter part of the movie. I enjoyed it and glad to have it in my collection.

Ant Man

Medium to Strong!

Pros
- Excellent depth and layering
- Negative parallax
- Pop-ins!
- Well lit
- When yellowjacket freed himself from ants

Cons
- Few pop-outs only
- Had a shot to be strong had the pop-outs went some more distance

Movie: One of the best MCU movies. I have not seen all of them but from what I have seen, possibly in top 5. Paul Rudd is a likeable actor. CGI is great. Plot is great. Pace is great. Action is great. Clocks under 2 hours which is what I look for.

Antman and Antman and the Wasp both have excellent 3D...Especially the scenes inside the quantum realm.

Just watched Wonders of the Sea.

This is an outstanding documentary with some fantastic 3D, including the best underwater scenes in the pitch black of night I've ever seen! Great depth, detail and color. Packed with stunning glimpses of underwater life and information.

Region B with English Audio narrated by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Highly recommended.

Also just preordered Treasure of the Four Crowns and purchased Protector 2.

Watched FFF. You’ve heard of a”B” movie, this is a “C-“. The 3D is very strong, but not sure I can recommend.

Edit: IMO not as good as Dargento’s Dracula, movie wise. Some will say campy…I’ll say crappy.

Just watched the animated film Outback, a joint USA South Korea production. Released in Germany, it is Region B with English audio.

It's a cute film which can be enjoyed by both children and adults. The 3D unfortunately is mostly mild with limited depth. Emphasis is more on the closeups. While some scenes do provide very nice immersion, I would hesitate using it as an introduction to 3D Blu-ray.

This is why I can neither recommend or discourage one from purchasing it.

There was a Region A release somewhere if I recall but it's not really worth hunting down.

I watched The Protector 2 the other night.

As usual, I had no idea what to expect. This was basically a kung fu fight movie with a simply plot about retrieving a stolen elephant from the bad guys. It was fun, and I thought the 3D was mostly very good.

I've seen most of Tony Jaa's movies. He acts with martial artists using different styles but Tony Jaa will almost certainly be using Muay Thai. I would be surprised if they changed the formula.

Just watched Nut Job 2, Nutty by Nature. It's region B from Germany with English audio.

Very good 3D overall. Nice combination of depth, ingenuity, popouts and picture quality. Funny story as well for both children and adults.

As others noted, the dialogue was lower than the music and sound effects but no need to adjust any audio settings.

Highly recommended.

I watched the 3D version of the theatrical cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice for the first time. I had seen the Ultimate Cut a couple of times before. I think the 3D is really nice! I guess I shouldn't be surprised since most of the DC movies have good 3D. The opening scenes with Bruce Wayne as a kid in slow motion really work well in 3D. His mother's pearls being strewn across the screen, the snow, him falling into the cave with the bats and the autumn leaves kicking up. Lots of depth too. A much better 3D presentation than my last viewing which was Shang-Chi.

I finally saw Pirates IV. No where near as bad as the reviews said, definitely needed to be seen in 3D. Jack Sparrow also had some fun dialogue, though I can agree that he works better when he's paired with another character to play off of (the movie even references/lampshades this, making it a "meta movie" over a decade before Matrix 4).

While the dark scenes never lost visual detail for me, on my old player (and translucent screen) they did cause DLP sync issues with Dynamic Black enabled.

I think I even saw a fair few popouts. If any one recalls this movie, when we look up at the schools of mermaids swimming, does 1+ of them appear to "pop in" to the screen? I wasn't sure.

other than the Oppo line of player, is there another company that allows external subtitles to be played while watching a BD ? I found this thread but it hasn't been updated in a while. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=314129 and sorry if it's the wrong place but I figured with lots of Asian/German 3D stuff, this might be the place where people know a things or two about the subject...

On Nut Job 2, the disc included German language trailers of two other animated 3D films.

One was Jock The Dog Hero (JOCK A HELD ON 4 POTS) a joint US/South African venture. The 3D looked good, the story got good reviews (7 on bluray.com and 4.3 on Amazon though the same 4.3 on IMDb was on a scale of 10) and the German release included English audio.

So just ordered it. Amazon and other sites don't ship to US but there was a seller on eBay who did for an extra shipping charge. If interested, shop around but note prices vary between vendors.

Thumbs up The Universe: 7 Wonders of the Solar System 3D

Took a 3D trip around the seven wonders of the solar system.

Revisited this feature from the History Channel and really enjoyed the 3D ride. 3D is strong-to-medium, lots of depth and a few popouts here and there. I did feel a little minor eye strain when viewing certain shots of one of the 7 wonders
[Show spoiler](the Sun)
but I recovered quickly. 3D eye candy, educational and entertaining, and a nice 44-minute run time.
