BECAUSE YOU MADE A POINT TO CONNECT THEM ALL! We don't need to have them bring up Kara every episode, but apart from Jenna Dewan returning as Lucy, they've ignored the show completely and I'm surprised they didn't just recast her like they did with their dad and act like Supergirl events were part of some weird fever dream because her and Diggle's (one) appearance are basically the only things that have set it in the Arrowverse.

When Clark went to Argo City, Supergirl was picking up the slack and was worldwide for a while. But even being a National City hero, with Clark gone she would be more likely to step up again, even if it's just showing a CGI Supergirl flying around on the news.
But again, this is pretty conventional to have other heroes which aren't utilized within a specific universe. In Titans for example, at a certain point it could seem a bit ridiculous for Wonder Woman, Superman, or other leading heroes to never show up even when the Titans clearly could use the help.

Perhaps I am not in the majority here, but I don't really want the constant connecting of all the in-universe characters despite wanting a shared universe. It makes for a fun team-up moment, even smaller scale ones, but throwing too many cameos, allusions, and references to other characters (aka other shows) can eventually cause a show to struggle to stand apart as an individual work. Plus we all know Arrowverse content has at times gotten bloated when they lose focus on their main character. I have no problem with them showing Kara on the news or something - I just don't want them to feel like they need to explain away everything at all times and (quite literally) lose the plot in search of making a fantasy universe more realistic. But in terms of say, an arc with a guest appearance of Supergirl? That could be perfectly entertaining.

Worse, as I recall Kara's decision on her identity may sound good in isolation, but within the context of the shared universe it puts a number of her allies in a very awkward place. We'll see if they ever bring back the character as Supergirl, but that choice itself puts the Supergirl series somewhat at odds with the rest of the Arrowverse, even if it can seem like it is S&L that attempts to be isolated.

I haven't watched any of the other CW shows, only Superman & Lois, so it's not a problem to me, but I clearly understand how it is one for everyone else.

Other than that, I felt the latest episode was the season's best yet, and that's strange to say, considering Superman's not in it.

Maybe it's just how I'm feeling today, but the emotional moments really got to me, specially the Nat & John scenes.

Interesting to see Jon starting to get powers now! And thankfuly the "Superboy" was Jon from the inverse world. Those leaked photos of him got me really worried and this way I'm cool with it!

Doesn't have to reference a ton of stuff, or even reference specific details from Supergirl... the other shows don't really do that either, maybe they'll give a throwaway reference to Metropolis or Gotham, but they're pretty much self-contained now. But when the news on S&L is asking highlighting Superman's absence and needing help, and then JHI is on there saving the day, why didn't they at least throw in a CGI Supergirl during one of the news stories doing something heroic? I could see them not bringing up The Flash or Batwoman, but Supergirl is directly related, literally. Plus it's the parent show to this one. Just seems odd to completely forget her.

You're certainly not asking for too much, to be clear. I just don't see it as necessary when people don't even like the Arrowverse Supergirl series (and by some extension, probably the character). And most of the other shows' heroes aren't global like Superman either, so in the end it seems a lot less like a forgotten aspect on the part of the writers and more just a continued decision to keep the show fairly self-contained (to whatever extent that clashes with it being in a shared universe and having the John Diggle appearance).

The latest news is that the show is going to address the lack of Supergirl connectivity and overall Arrowverse connectivity in the later episodes of this season. Even though the Crisis event set up S&L and deliberately did so in the last shot of the Arrowverse Superman, this particular show feels more like it takes place in an alternate reality that is very similar to the Arrowverse and has some of the same foundation, yet is very different. Diggle's appearance in the Smallville siege arc of the first season was supposed to give that Arrow connectivity, but it just felt like a half-assed attempt at connecting S&L to the rest of the Arrowverse shows by throwing some referential dialog from a character doing a one-off appearance during a spate of appearances in the Arrowverse shows, despite no other connective tissue in the entire series at that time or since.

The XK activated his latent Kryptonian genes, which turned on his powers. The more XK he gets, the quicker his powers will begin to appear and grow in strength.

But when did he exhibit his powers?

His brother had to save him from that drug dealer.

So far his powers have only exhibited within a short time frame of him taking the XK.

I assumed Jon's "headache" as he was walking his girlfriend home were his powers starting to kick in. I guess I could be wrong.

I thought that also till the Bizarro Jonathon showed up at the end of the episode. I think it was just him sensing his bizarro self or perhaps he was feeling the merging of him and his bizarro self starting.

I never finished watching the first season of this; just got sidetracked and didn't dedicate myself to it. How does the second year fare, by comparison? Is it better, worse, or the same?

It's about the same. Although some characters are suffering from CW-itis when it comes to the writing.

Yeah, that was the reason.

It was interesting except for Tal-Rho's hokey dialogue "what on square Earth" and "Persons Magazine" lol I've never heard anybody say "what on round Earth", so throwing in that identifier was just a little too dumb.

And we thought Bizarro Jon had bad fashion.

Another great episode.
[Show spoiler]Clark Tells Lana his secret.
Jordan's Fight with Bizzaro Johnathan was awesome.

What's not awesome is another long ****ing break.

New episodes are back May 31st

Here is the reason for long breaks
