The Build A Movie Thread V1.0

Ok, so here's the deal. We all like/dislike different things in movies and all complain/praise certain films for various aspects. I think it's time to put our brains together and build something from scratch that Hollywood should take a look at and say "Oh, that's original, we better not make it... let's just do Mimic 7 and Land Before Time 37."

How it'll work is we'll all work together to try and develop a kick ass movie from scratch by creating the plot, creating and filling the roles, etc... I've created a list of things we'll need to fill in order to have our movie in place and ready to be made (if anyone can think of additional items, throw them my way)

1. Genre
2. Plot
3. Title
4. Director
5. Producer
6. Writers
7. Cast

I'll let discussions begin in the thread going in order of above and than once we have a few different ideas brewed, I'll create a thread with a poll that will run for a day or two. Once that item is complete we'll move on to the next idea and so on. I think the one that'll be tough to complete will be the plot itself, however I think that if we get enough individuals inputting ideas, I can edit this original post with plot ideas as we go and than people can alter certain one and we'll than create a poll for that. Anyhow, I was bored and thought this would be a cool way for us to pass the time. Cheers!

For a genre, I think some type of science-fiction/action film would be best.

Well, I planned on making a separate poll each time we get to a new piece.

I like each of these ideas, but the period piece or spy drama would be the best IMO.

I think a period piece may require too much research than some people may want to do, but I certainly don't mind the idea.

I'd be more down for a spy drama or sci-fi movie.

BTW - Great Idea for a thread, though I do think this will eventually require some sort of poll

I agree, the period piece may be a bit much, but at the same time if we get multiple people working together on it, it may be something real cool to do.

Eventually, we will create separate threads for the actual polls of each item. Once we have a consensus of 4-6 ideas for each item, we'll create a poll to rehash everything.


I think a spy-drama may be on the list. I also wouldn't mind creating an "adventure" type movie. something along the lines of Indiana Jones; Nothing has really been developed greatly in that aspect since the original three. Tomb Raider wasn't very good and National Treasure was ok, but there wasn't a ton of action in it. Thoughts on that?

Perfect recipe for a movie. Take 1 part Bruce Campbel, mix with 3 parts Raimi family (usually Sam, Ted, and Ivan). Throw is a little Rob Tapert for spice. Bake until well done. Decorate using whatever hot actress will agree and a few up and coming actors.

I have a soft spot for film noir. Perhaps a modern PI story along the lines of The Maltese Falcon or Chinatown. I can't wait to see all those nighttime shots on my Kuro.

I had a Terminator idea but it says that we can't do sequels or can we?

2. Plot - In a sleepy North Carolina town a child has gone missing. While searching for his missing child; Stuart Leighton discovers a cave. Inside the cave is something dark; sinister creature as old as America itself. Stuart races against the clock to stop the creature at all costs in a blood and guts showdown between the town and the monster. This time, the town will fight back.
