For us, that one has been a multi purchase. Hats off to the people responsible for making the UHD BD available. Great picture and a Atmos track that is better than several recent Disney titles.

From about 2001 to 2004 we had to watch HD content in our home office on a 19" NEC CRT computer monitor or a 17" Samsung flat panel computer monitor. Source was some edited OTA, PBS via satellite and D-VHS. That NEC was a monster.

Speaking of presentation, my new projector gets installed tomorrow. It is the only piece of gear I phone a friend to help with since it is best as a two person job. Only took about 5 months to get and JVC has also raised pricing by $1000.

I know you think you are smarter than anyone and know everything, but why resort to name calling you should be above this. By all means I'd like to hear from someone that knows cost for setting up Disc Replication and Manufacturing of DVD's, BD, and UHD. Jeff from Films-at-Home has brought in people from Independent Studios to talk about Budgets and Cost, which are very slim but their love for Film makes it all worthwhile. Jeff also talks about which Major Studios put out the Best and Worst Discs, and why!

The wait and the high cost are both.dreadful.

I’m very happy for you and excited to know how it goes. I have been loving my RS3100. JVC set a new standard with these models.

And, a new song from Pink Floyd was released yesterday which also has me over the moon.

Yup. NZ8. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning right now. I will be using your setup video you shared awhile ago, so thanks again!

The wait was a bit much, but I don’t focus too much on things I can’t control. Plus I was pretty content with the Epson/Panamorph combo for the time being.

I was stoked to see a new song from them as well. Hopefully it lights a fire under Gilmour to do something bigger.

No name calling here, you keep making statements about disc production cost and studio profits without any proof. That is against BD.COM rules. It makes you appear as nothing more than trolling here, also against the rules.

Why would a self professed all digital person give one hoot about that?

For you the enjoyment might be the same. For me and many others it is not. I don't enjoy a film if it looks/sonds like crap because the whole time I am wondering how much better the presentation can be, the same way I don't enjoy as much a badly cooked meal.....

Many people have the false understanding that in order to enjoy a Movie the presentation has to be on Disc.

I prefer physical in general because of true ownership (no matter the format)

but no that is your own delusion. Because in your own mind there is a war that people need to pick a side on.
DVD cannot have a presentation that is as good as Kaleidescape 4k even though the first is a disk and and other is not. On the other hand none of the streaming providers offer anything even remotely close to UHD BD. It is not how the movie is distributed that matters but the specs of those distributions and what is the best each can offer that affects presentation.

.

If Joe has an $800 phone and enjoys watching movies on it then I’m all for that. Do with what you have. I’m happy if you enjoy whatever.

I wouldn’t have watched something on the plane thing but I snooped some looks at what others were watching.

I’ve been enjoying movies all my life and at home I put together something good with Panasonic UB9000 and JVC laser projector. I don’t need something to be on disc to enjoy it but it sure helps me relax knowing I am most likely getting a first class presentation.

exactly When I used to travel a lot I used to pack films and watch them on my laptops, to me that was not about "watching" a film but about making the flight less tedious. If I am with friends at their place, if they want to watch something on streaming then we do that, but it is not about watching the film (and I don't count it even if it is a disk I brought from home which friends have asked me to do) it is about hanging pout with friends. There are only a couple of other places that count as watching a film then the best presentation in my HT (and even my family room and bedroom don't count)

Did your dealer honor the price when ordered or did you have to pay the new price? Would like to see pictures when finished mounting.

Ordered a Zappiti NAS, additional external disc drive and Zappiti Neo media player many weeks ago. Supposed to be delivered this coming Wednesday. Fixing to order 9 WD Red Plus 14TB HDD's, in RAID 5 this will give me 98TB of storage. Will have an extra drive, just in case.

Watched "France" on BD last night. It's pretty cool film with Lea Sedoux. Funny enough, its currently streaming on Criterion Channel.

I watched War of the Worlds (2005) and it's definitely a demo disc. I did not hate it as much as I did back in 2005. I always hated the Robbie character. Speaking of War of the Worlds, I'm going to have to watch the series on EPIX.
