The Integra DTR80.2 I have been using as a preamp is dying. Looking to move to a true preamp/processor. If it came down to good quality new vs. better quality used I'd go with better quality used. What used preamps should I look at?
-I won't ever be able to do immersive audio in this room so don't need Atmos, X, or Auro 3D. A 7.1 or even 5.1 would be good enough but if immersive formats are included it isn't a problem. -It would be nice if it can pass 4k HDR, including DolbyVision. Not 100% required but would simplify my set up slightly. -Source is Oppo 203, Amp is Krell Showcase 7 channel (only using 5), speakers are a mix of Thiel models, sub is a Paradigm Ref Servo 15. -Balanced outputs not required. -Budget is $1,000 to 2,000 US Dollars. |

Another option is using a receiver as a prepro. You have a lot of options with that. Many use the Denon x6700h for that purpose. There's also an Anthem MRX 1120 for sale used (I have no connection to the seller) for $1999 on USAudioMart. I hope this helps you on your path. ![]() |

Main difference with the 88xx is that they usually have XLR inputs vs the AV77XX only having HDMI/coax/spdif and rca inputs. HDR...AV7703 and above will support HDR10 and Dolby Vision passthrough.
