It's gonna have Dolby Vision isn't it? Unlike the original release...

Highly doubt it. It'll most likely be the same previous disc.

These recent Sony re-releases have been sporting Dolby Vision HDR upgrades. Bridge on the River Kwai, Labyrinth, Ghostbusters I & II, Karate Kid. That seems to be the trend.

Let's hope so. While they're at it, I'd love re-releases with DV of their entire 4K collection

Dark Crystal, Close Encounters, and Bram Stoker’s Dracula all have anniversaries this year. Hopefully re-releases with Dolby Vision encodes are on the way…

I’ve really been hoping for that Dracula. I just got the Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein from Zavvi so it’d be nice to have the set.

Had my Laserdisc back in November 1997 which should have been the same day as VHS, so only partially correct.

I had to look that up, because I had never seen or heard of the MIB laserdisc. Pretty awesome.

For those curious what it looks like:

https://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/08025...in-Black-(1997)

They stopped selling them around my area entirely some years earlier and even niche stores like Circuit City didn't have them.

For those interested, the lsaerdisc actually was in production until 2000/1 (depending on who you talk to), and they actually kept making the players until 2009.

Came across an interesting article about laserdiscs and physical media in general while I was looking all this up. Worth a read for anyone interested on the subject:

Well, if we're going that technical, the actual first release was some private screening for some studio exec.

I should have left it at "The original release was on film" lol.

Pioneer sold the one DVL model until 2009 or so. DVL-919? I believe an Elite model but the LD section was not even par with the TOTL 90s models and the DVD section was mediocre, and by late 00s, very outdated. The positive is that you could buy a new LD player with no wear and tear on it years after the releases dried up.
