Top Earning Actors June 08 - June 09

Man, if I was him I'd be all for an Indy 5!

Forbes magazine released a list of top-earning actors who worked between June 2008 and June 2009. Topping the list is Harrison Ford, who needed to make only one movie to lead all other actors. That movie is "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."

In order to get Ford to come out of his semi-retirement, Paramount Pictures agreed to a lucrative deal that split almost all of the film's earnings with Ford, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. "Indiana Jones 4" went on to earn $786 million, and even though the trio had to wait until the studio made back its production and advertising costs, Ford still walked away with $65 million.

Coming in second is Adam Sandler with $55 million, thanks to such films as "You Don't Mess with The Zohan," "Bedtime Stories" and his big paycheck for "Funny People."

Will Smith came in third by just making "Hancock" and "Seven Pounds," while Eddie Murphy came in fourth with "Meet Dave."

One of the most hard-working actors in Hollywood, Nicolas Cage, came in fifth. He might not earn as much as Smith or Sandler, but he currently has six movies scheduled to hit theaters.

Surprisingly, Johnny Depp came in tenth, even though he was second last year with $72 million. What's missing? He didn't make a "Pirates of the Caribbean" film. Will Ferrell was 20th and has seen a steady decline in box office revenues for his comedies.

well it wasn't a set amount they agreed on, he had a percentage deal i believe
something like 20%


but i didn't think Ford had that kinda deal for Indy IV
$65mil is a serious chunk of change

Wow, really? Not saying show me where you read that, but show me where you read that! - he prob. got his usual $20 mil. or so per picture, but even with points on the back end, that seems quite high. I've never heard or read anywhere about him or anyone for that matter, making that much with just one movie when all was said & done. Not that he needs it but damn, if it's true, good lord...

But this is where it gets sticky. If it's profits, then what was the budget? And what was the budget X2.5? Then take that from it's gross and he made 20% of that (if it was based on profits)

yea, 20% of $591 mil. makes it almost $120 million - wow. that's not the National Enquirer type site so they must have got their info from a reputable place you would think. damn... Must be Nice! - (question: it only lists MI & MI: 2 - $145 mil from those 2 alone, where's the info for MI: 3?)

budget was 132mil

so the profit line was at around $330million-ish

so if his 20% was based on profits, then he made around $53million

Wiki has MI3 at $75million
which i'm assuming was also a gross percentage

i would look for another source but seeing as he had that deal for MI2 i'm sure he had the same for MI3

All I could find was this info -- & I spent quite a few minutes surfing around for info. So if this made just under $400 mil. world-wide and he had the same or similar deal for War of the Worlds, he more than likely took in almost $80 mil. or so for MI: 3.

The last "Mission: Impossible" movie seen in theaters was "Mission: Impossible 3". Released on May 5, 2006, it opened with $47.7 million bow on its first weekend in the U.S. and then continued to rake in the worldwide total of $397.9 million. While it received mostly average to positive critics, the action movie couldn't top the earning of either "Mission: Impossible" or its first sequel, "Mission: Impossible 2".

well he's not exactly a big blockbuster earning actor like some of the other guys on the list.

also, i doubt that TDK, Terminator, AND Public Enemies are included in that number
i find it hard to believe even though he doesn't make tom cruise/will smith bank that he'd make that little for those three

$10million sounds more like just the Terminator salary possibly

Its not like $10 million isn't a lot of money. It's more then the vast majority of people will ever make in there life.

It was from this magazine. They said he had never been in a movie that grossed less than $100 million, so they agreed to pay him $100 million. I remember it was a big deal because it was the most anyone had been paid for a single movie.
