Hoping it's just a supply chain issue and that soon enough all of these things work itself out again.
I actually had many chances to order this thing for shipping but would have to pay the $3.99 shipping and thought I could just pick up instore if I got there early and also put in the order the night before as I've done many times before.

Welcome to the new normal! Oh well it's disappointing but since I've cut back on steelbooks I'm fine.

I think Best Buy is actually very happy with the situation. They don't use movies anymore or even exclusive steelbooks to lure people into the store.

The fact that they have sold out and will not have any excess inventory, I'm sure makes them very happy. They've learned their lesson from the Disney/Pixar steelbook situation and WW84. I think there are a lot of Mulan steels leftover too. $10 Best Buy I'm in!

mmmm that Target exclusive is looking better with each passing minute.

What an absolute sh*t show. It's not like this wasn't the biggest movie of the past two years or so. They knew the demand would be high.

And if your pre-order got delayed? You aren't getting it. It means they oversold, it happened to me before and all you'll get is a "we're very sorry" email. It's why I had only started doing store pickup only.

At this point I don't think Best Buy gives a sh!t about disgruntled movie and exclusive steelbook customers.

As someone posted in the Best Buy Deals Thread, the rumor is that all movies will be gone from the store in September.

Shake your fist at them all you want but you might as well be pi$$ing in the wind.

Maybe our favorite company Amazon will get into the exclusive steelbook game.

This is kind of sh*t that kills the enthusiasm of physical media collecting. I'm now just going to buy the digital copy on Vudu to watch it. It's so much easier, cheaper and less time wasted than trying to hunt down a steelbook on eBay.

I would kill for Amazon to take over the steelbooks. Hell charge extra for them as long as I'm guaranteed to get it.

Yupp. It’s unfortunate that pre ordering on the first day doesn’t even guarantee that you’ll get a copy anymore but oh well.

I could care less if Best Buy wants to get out of the steelbook/movie business as long as they stop releasing Best Buy exclusive steelbooks too. Trust me I have no problem giving my business to other companies that want my money. For this release it kinda works out because I hated the cover art for this steelbook anyway and love the cover art for the Wal-Mart 4K release. Seems like a short sighted business practice to send customers to other companies though. Why in the world would I buy ANYTHING from Best Buy in the future if they keep doing this? Might as well get my next tv from Wal-Mart while I'm there buying the latest physical media release.

The last time they made these, they over-produced them to the point that they were on sale for like $10 (or $12.99- I forgot, but I did get 1 & 2 for $5 each after like a $10 reward). And they never restocked those after either.

With No Way Home they likely had production issues that have been affecting steelbook releases like Halloween Hills and Dune. I know a WB rep told me whatever recalls of Dune they got were being re-released with the code and discs confirmed, but it's been almost 4 months now and nothing.

Personally I don't think No Way Home will be restocked, even if it was the biggest movie in the past two years.

What I haven't figured out is WHY Best Buy continues with the exclusive steelbooks. What is the point? The profit margins on these are barely worth their while (if it's worth it at all). At one point, the belief would have been that Best Buy exclusive items drive customers to the store. But, when they don't sell them in store or have such limited quantities that more customers are likely to be upset, what does Best Buy gain?

Yes, please, get out of the movie business so I never have a need to go to Best Buy again. There is one Best Buy store in my area that did a complete remodel and there are no movies on display anywhere in the store. Initially, they had the New Release display up front, but that eventually ended up sitting there empty. They do have movies at that store for in store pickup, but nothing on the floor.

Most of my stuff has been bubble mailers and most from Louisville, KY. I did get a box for my LEGO Star Wars steelbook from Albany, Georgia but got Roger Rabbit 4K steelbook in bubble mailer from Macon, Georgia. It's a crap shoot.
So were they shipped in a box? Mine is coming from Ohio.

The last time I was in Best Buy was to pick up the three Ultraman steelbooks on sale for $10. Trader Joe's is right next door but I never bother to go in the store anymore.

I used to go in a lot to just look at the movies on the racks and there have been times I just bought a movie and it wasn't on sale, usually a catalog title.

Like I posted, it's been fun.

So many cranky reviews on BestBuy.com.
What surprises me is why Best Buy doesn’t have a 1 month preorder window and then base their production run off those initial orders.

Well the reality is that in that 1 month, you can have scalpers buy hundreds of copies in X orders of Y going to A/B/C address... It's impossible to judge real world demand based on what happens during a pre-order period

This is a sh*t show. Im taking a look at lunch time in my local store but I’m not holding out much hope.

So the produce a ton of these for Wonder Women 1984 which wasn’t very good. It was ok but no where near the first one.

No Way Home does huge numbers and they barely make any ? How can you be SO wrong on two steel books ?

Which has been a problem since the very beginning of exclusive Best Buy steelbooks. Why don't they put a freaking cap on how many copies can be pre-ordered? No single person is every buying 50 copies for personal use. No one should be allowed to pre-order more than 2 copies of an exclusive steelbook if you ask me. A week after it's released? Sure. But not before. Also like I said before, I TRIED to pre-order this one and couldn't. This garbage where it goes on pre-sale then immediately goes to COMING SOON then back & forth needs to stop. But they clearly have no interest in correcting the problems so just STOP with the Best Buy exclusives. Problem solved.

Each reseller will run bots with 100s of proxies. You're manually trying to add to cart against 1000s of instant checkout bots. You'll see instagram posts of people sitting in front of entire rooms of product they pulled.

Never thought movies would attract that type of plague. But here we are. At least if you're vigilant, you can catch a random restock. This steel had a restock run over an entire day if I recall during pre order.

Yes, mine was in a box with air pillows. It threw me off though because it was a cube shaped box, like one that you would send funko pops in.
