I bet it would be much more than that when you account for all of the multi-disc box sets (i.e.: TV series) and naturally I would want to retain all of the extra features, too.

I would want to rip most of my DVDs also. There's lots of stuff there that hasn't made it to blu-ray yet and even among those titles that have some of my DVD editions have features unique to them.

That reminds me, need to look into importing The Neverending Story. Click the graphic below, then click Buy Now for more info.

IIRC, Penton-Man told me awhile back there was a new 4K scan and the disc should be available for importing.

Still have the DVD, the Warner BD was a mess .

So do I! We have something in common! How scary is that!?

Has anyone seen the modern (2019) episodic series of the same name? If so, whadja think? I am referring to this:

There are two seasons on blu-ray; both are imports. Only the first season is available on streaming at Hulu (I duzzn't get Hooloo). Digital sellers also only offer the first season.

I have that Warner blu-ray, but I have not watched it. What is a mess about it? The link in your first sentence leads to a "404 Not Found" error, btw. The image link works fine.

That 4K disc import looks tempting; I wish it had English subtitles, though.

I quickly rolled over into Epix's series "Britannia" and it is awesome so far. There are 3 seasons worth in 4K SDR / 5.1 via Epix. You can also get 2 seasons worth via PRIME also in 4K SDR / 5.1. Man, this show would look and sound even more phenomenal on 4K disc - it screams for DV/HDR / Atmos!

I also own the Neverending Story and have not watched it.

It’s impossible to find time for.

I did the server thing but I’m pretty enthusiastic about my UB9000 now and I understand you have the Oppo. I have enough space and a fairly organized collection so watching the actual disc isn’t a hardship.

Using 3 minutes to queue up a disc once or twice a day is just part of the fun.

Have that one on DVD, will look into the BD version. Also have The Hunt For Red October on BD. Had U571 on D-VHS D-Theater but sold the tape after getting the BD version. Then sold the BD after getting a much larger projection screen, just could not deal with the camera work.

Been several years but IIRC, it had exaggerated contrast and did not look very good.

I am not aware of there being any 4K disc edition of Das Boot anywhere in the world; the blu-ray is as good as it gets.

Hunt For Red October is on 4K disc, however.

I love a good submarine movie if the audio is done right giving you the sense of claustrophobia. I have all the aforementioned discs and add Crimson Tide, K19 Widowmaker, and Hunter Killer 4K.

Passed on Crimson Tide and Hunter Killer, do have K-19 on DVD. K-19 must be OOP based on prices at Amazon.

All 3 are not perfect but still entertaining. Hunter Killer is by far the best sounding.

K-19 The Widowmaker most definitely appears to be OOP on blu-ray. You can't even buy a digital copy on Vudu.

Maybe Paramount is prepping it for a 4K release or at least a re-release on blu? One can hope.

I think I bought Hunter Killer on 4K disc due to your recommendation. It was well worth it.

This submarine movie probably makes good use of those 9 subwoofers of yours.

Ah, I must learn to be more descriptive in posting , passed on those as in did not purchase but did view. As of now we have watched several thousand titles via HBO, Showtime, video cassette (Beta & VHS) and disc rental (LD, DVD & BD). We only purchase titles with repeat viewing value to us.

Coming on deck via Netflix disc rental (BD, no UHD BD): Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Spider-Man reviewer at High-Def Digest believes this a Must Own title, here.

ADD: Had searched for Mary Shelley's Frankenstein in my db with no results so it was added to my queue. Just now searched for Frankenstein and we had watched on LD in 1994 and gave it bad marks so I will send it right back to Netflix.
