So It wouldn't worth getting it fixed. 55" Element TVs are very inexpensive and affordable.
Yeah, if I can't figure something out, I'll just have to make do until I have enough for a new 4K set.

Had a look at the video on YouTube, I'd say the replacing of boards is a just a small step up from upgrading PC parts, they're pretty easy to swap out, they're designed not to soldered (but a repair shop could solder new parts onto an existing board) in.

If you can source the parts, you could try the T-Con board and then the main board, the T-Con controls the images going to the panel.

The problem is that a bad panel can damage the T-Con board and replacing the board will result it the panel damaging it again, you'd need to be able to test the board with a multimeter to see if it's bad.

The problem is unless you know what you're doing replacing boards might not actually help, so you'd have to risk the costs of parts knowing that it's basically blind luck that you've fixed it.

I'm going to try baking the board. Since I'm not a tech guy, it's about all I can do. And if it doesn't work, I have nothing to lose.

Tax refunds are coming in, so that will help. We're looking to get a 65" 4K TV. I'm open to suggestions on that.

What's your budget? For a mid-tier TV I'd say the Sony X90J or TCL 6-series are good choices.

I agree, it's essential to know what your budget is, Zillamon. And in case a mid-range set is what you're aiming at, I second unberechenbar's recommendation for the X90J.

My folks are rocking a 2007 Sony 1080p LCD everyday since 2007.

0 issue. I check on it from time to time when I visit. Picture Quality is the same today as it was back in 07.

Heck their 2007 TV will probably outlast my 2021 OLED.

We have $1,000 for a TV. (We also need a wall mount, soundbar, UHD disc player, and 4K streaming device.) We watch a LOT of movies. Some TV (mostly streaming shows). We're not gamers, and we don't watch sports. We're considering a 55" - 65" Hisense UG6 / 7 / 8. Good features for the price. Reviews are solid. How's the overall quality / lifespan?

For a 65" TV around $1,000, the Hisense U8G, Sony X90J and TCL 6 Series/R646 are your three best options.

As far as durability and reliability, Sony rank the highest in that department, but you can get lucky or unlucky with any brand.

I got a 55" Hisense U8G last December, after doing research, and I'm in love with it. At almost $800, it wasn't exactly cheap, but it's loaded with features of pricier sets. There's probably a newer model out by now, but if not, I recommend the U8G.

For a person to be able to do all of that work, they have to be a technician because, a novice wouldn't have the knowledge, skills nor the experience to do it. That's why they have certified technicians. You wouldn't expect somebody off the street to go into an operating room to perform an open heart surgery. A person just can't repair the internal circuitry of a TV, if they don't know what they're doing. YouTube videos are fine for minor household repairs, but there some things that only a professional should do. The TV is 10 years old, and it will be economical to buy a new one.

It's not open heart surgery, mate, the TV is dead, it's akin to playing Frankenstein for an afternoon.

Just make sure you don't get struck by lightning.

Some might be over budget, but you might be lucky with sales.

We got a free 32" Toshiba Regza to tide us over. Probably also 10+ years old. But it works. It beats using our outdoor projector on the wall, which we had been doing.
